Hi everyone,

I am planning to upgrade the preamplifier of my system to a Boulder 2110. Right now I have two options: obviously the first one is a new one. And my dealer told me that there is also a used one available. However, the age of the used 2110 is not certain, he estimated it at around 5 year old. As the current owner bought it 2nd hand as well. On the plus side, this 2110 appears is in great shape. Finally, this used 2110 is selling at 75% the price of the brand new 2110’s.

I know Boulder amplifiers are built like tanks and should last a very long time, however, a five year old selling at only 25% less seems pretty stiff to me. I am leaning toward buying the new one. Will you do the same?

Thanks!

Julian

The older used one seems like it’s a little expensive. For a little more money, I’d prefer new if price isn’t out of the question.

If i were you i would go for a new one, 25% discount on the used unit seems to close for the price of owning a new unit.

Thank you for sharing your thought. I will go for the new one!

Brand new piece with full warranty is a no brainer for me. Congratulations and please keep us updated. I’ve always admired Boulder and think you’ll love it.

Envy, envy.... Bought 1110 and 1160 3 years ago and am still amazed by their power and clarity whenever I listen. The 2110 unit must be truly magical, especially since the Pass Labs XP32 obviously impresses Stereophile reviewers.

BTW Boulder are always happy to help with the slightest issue you might have. In my case it was how to get the 1110 remote to power up the 1160. V clear and prompt support.

Enjoy your purchase!

Finally received our 2110 yesterday. It took my dealer more than 2 months to deliver the machine due to the pandemic impact to logistics.

Amazing!! Congrats on a fine Preamp, I am sure it will give you many years of enjoyment. Let us know your impressions.

Hi all, the first impress I noticed about my new 2110 is its dead silence noise floor. When my system is on, without playing any music I cannot hear anything from the speaker. Even press my ear against the tweeter I still cannot hear anything. With any other preamps I have ever owned I could always hear some low hiss when I press my ear near the tweeter.

Yup, that's Boulder for you. My (relatively) little 1110 and 1160 combo does just that: presents the music without the slightest additional noise, whether hum or hiss or anything else. Very jealous of your 2110 but can't really complain!
