Yes indeed! Very interesting. I'm hearing such good things about Ansuz. Would love to try some.

    Good for you!

For even more giggles, if your system is running from a power distributor - try placing the Ansuz C as the distributor feed. That provides a very nice upgrade for systems I've tried it in.

That said, I also own the K-03 and it is very fussy about the power cord. Wrong cord and the K-03 quickly becomes lean.

I wonder if the Ansuz SC have a grounding effect that mitigates resonance propagation inherent in Raidho's (particularly the D series) just like using very low gauge wiring to feed a high current amp dampens waive form resonance. If this is true, it makes Ansuz a logical choice over loom synergy in fact it may be mandatory given the Raidho's peculiar behaviors at high SPL.

Revue of Ansuz Mainz POM on NoMono (DK)

The Danish web Hi-Fi magazine NoMono has tested four high End mains cables. Here is some of the positive words they gave Ansuz.

One of the last year's most controversial topic in our world is the impact of power cords on our beloved hi-fi-system. We have tested a few different cables, and comes with a - for some readers - perhaps surprising result.

We have heard the following argument a million times: If there are several miles to the nearest transformer station, how should ONE measly meter copper cable then make a difference?
One can also try to reverse the problem, and claim that it is the first meter from your system out to the outside world that perhaps is much more important than the other several miles copper wires, and which gives an audible improvement!
We dare to claim that as mentioned above, the last meter (or two) actually is more crucial than the many miles of electric wire. For what is it that drives your system? It is, of course, in the end, power/electricity that is been transformed into acoustic energy, right from your socket to your speakers, and the cleaner the better, we believe.

    Ansuz Mainz POM
Ansuz cheapest power cable, performes with a direct, beautiful, musically, and ultra-precise sound. We are been exposed to, both in width and in depth to a nice panoramic sound. The music plays with a deep bottom, and an excellent dynamics. The smiles on the faces of the listening panel is large. When we hear -or should we say - enjoy the music. For it is just music, and not technique which we enjoy with this cable. We think less of the system's performance, and more at artist's ditto.

This cable is their cheapest, but it is still a “must-have” for all music lovers - it is actual that good!

...try to listen to the intro of Manu Katche's "Running after Years". With Ansuz POM, you can clearly hear that the little drum is not been hit the exact same way the first couple of times. Impressive that a power cable can reveal as many details, and mean so much for the overall experience. Alternatively, put your ears to" Wandring Aloud" from Jethro Tull's Aqualung Live. It's like being there yourself.

It is incredible how good the timing in your music suddenly gets! All of a sudden, we listen to music, and not to the technology.

Thanks for posting the review Wizard.

I was particularly interested to read the quote from Michael Børresen re the efforts Ansuz have gone to with earthing and low inductance of their cables. The review did not mention it but I also believe the Ansuz cables exhibit very low capacitance as well (vs. industry peers).

I have a number of Ansuz POM power cords in my system and think very highly of them. I stand by my earlier review of the Ansuz POM. When comparing it with the Nordost Valhalla I noted

    Re: Ansuz Cables & Accessories

    Hi all,

Just returned from a visit to a friend - I'm slightly tired, here being 1:00 AM and the Lagavulin good (and plenty). His system is a small brother of mine: all Chord electronics (but with a digital source, so no spinning things whatsoever) and Raidho C1.0 speakers.

I used to like the sound but it was slightly "scalpel-like", not something to listen to for more than a couple hours. Now, he changed his Nordost Valhalla speaker cables for Ansuz A Speakz and all fell into place: there was as much detail, as much micro (and macro) dynamics but much more music in the music.

So, Ansuz rulez... Still have to compare them with same priced Siltech cables, but they sure burry Nordost (unless you're a vegan, of course, and like all your things "light")

    Re: Ansuz Cables & Accessories

I've received a couple of questions about Ansuz cables and in particular cable mixing.

We'd obviously all love a full loom of Ansuz Diamond - but that is simply cost prohibitive for many; so the natural question tends to be where is the sweet spot and the value spot in the Ansuz cable range and if money is tight where should the priority of spend go?

There will be different opinions on these questions but over the past six months of ownership I've formed my own opinion on them.

    THE VALUE SPOT

The Ansuz POM's are ridiculously good for the money and on performance par (IMHO) with the Nordost Reference range. While both cables proffer speed and dynamics their attributes in other regards are quite different with their respective signatures discussed in my earlier review, but suffice to say I'd happily exchange Valhalla for Ansuz POM in my system as this resulted (during my evaluations) in a more organic sound painted against a much blacker back drop.

There is a natural tendency for audiophiles to "rubbish" entry level offerings in any product range, but to rubbish POM simply because it sits on the bottom of the Ansuz Acoustic product portfolio would be a serious error in judgement.

    THE SWEET SPOT

The gong goes to Ansuz C. Yes, Ansuz D is better again but at 2 to 3x the price depending on whether we are talking speaker, interconnect or power cable, the Ansuz C offers far better "bang for your buck." When comparing Ansuz C to my Nordost Odin cables performance was very close indeed with Odin being a bit more spirited and Ansuz C being more earthly.

    NO MONEY, NO HONEY

So, you can't afford that diamond "uptown girl" - what do you do? I've now had opportunity to explore many different combinations of Ansuz cables and have made a few interesting observations.

First, focus maximum resources on your systems heart and foundation. The "heart" of your system is your power distribution and by extension your distribution of ground. Get that foundation wrong and your audio system will under-perform vs. its potential. Power distribution is broadly considered as everything "AC" between your house switchboard and your components - but for the purpose of this update I will focus on what lies between your room’s power socket and your AC distributor.

You will read elsewhere that if you can afford just one Ansuz D then buy a power cord and place it at the input of your AC distributor. This I found partially true. The challenge is many audiophiles have other components between the wall socket and the distributor. These components range from mains conditioners to QRT field generators and the presence of these demands multiple power connections and power cords. Annoyingly, to get the absolute best from Ansuz D you require multiple Ansuz D power cables – the more the merrier and the better the resultant sound….

Back to more affordable then! If budget is limited I recommend focussing on your systems heart and initially buy one Ansuz C power cord for the input to your distributor and Ansuz POM power cords elsewhere. If your budget is greater place Ansuz C power cords at all junctions between your wall socket and the mains distributor. If you budget is greater again connect an additional Ansuz C from your distributor to your source.

Some may be surprised that I have not mentioned interconnects or speaker cables. They are important – just not nearly as important as the system foundation (power cables) – in my observation and opinion. Once the AC foundation is sorted, then I'd turn my attention to upgrading speaker cables followed by interconnects.

Equally I have not mentioned Ansuz A. My feeling is that this product sits in no man’s land – clearly markedly inferior to Ansuz C and yet little better than POM.

Finally, the system foundation also includes your mains distributor and resonance control devices. The mains distributor quality is surprisingly of the highest importance. I’ve observed great results with the Nordost Qbase and the Ansuz Mainz distributors. Make the investment early in one of these to unlock your audio systems potential.

Hope this helps – at least while that uptown girl remains ….er… Distant.

Great write up Ralph. I completely agree with getting the AC foundation first. I wanted speaker cables and IC's in the worst way, but focusing 100% on power was recommended to me.

    Re: Ansuz Cables & Accessories

Ralph, it's been going non-stop. Let's just say, the little S2 hits way above its weight class. It also seems to have a hint more authority as it breaks in. My only concerns are overall power....I'm still at 80-85% on average and the phonostage is just ok. I compared it to my Pass XP15 and the Pass phonostage clobbered it. But what can you expect? The phono card for the Rowland is $399 and the Pass is 10 times more at $3999. I think if I go ahead with the S2, I will want one with a DAC in it. My only other concern is the remote. It's so small that it tends to get lost between cushions and pillows.

But overall, the unit has a wonderful footprint, looks GORGEOUS sitting the rack and it an absolute no brainer from a synergy standpoint with Raidho and Ansuz.

    Hi Ralph,

First I'm new here, so please be gentle - as you've stated elsewhere - No Money, No Honey, but I can afford to investigate the Sparkz in either version, as I'm demoing similar devices more or less like Audioprism Quiet-lines - PS Audio Noise Harvester - Isotek Systems Neoplug - K Works Audio System Silencers and am considering the Nordost QV2 and said Sparkz, I'm curious about your perspective on each of them, and where in fact should I place them?, do I locate them onto the actual AC Outlet?, or obtain better results with one of them placed directly onto my line distributor?.

My system is quite humble compared to what I see here, ranging in the close to $18K mark, yet I'd love to finalize its voicing process by finding means of lowering the overall systems noise floor through said devices often referred to as noise filters or enhances.

Please advise, as I'm 56 years old, but am more then willing to admit aloud, one is never to old to learn new tricks regarding enhancing ones system, so please proceed to re-educate me, I'm all ears and open-minded enough to listen.

    Hello and welcome to AS!

I am familiar with the PS Audio Noise Harvester, the Nordost QRT Qv2 and the Ansuz Acoustics Sparkz and Sparkz TC, so I will restrict my commentary to these four units. What follows are my observations and as with all things in audio – others may disagree for quite sensible reasons including the most obvious, that my AC is not their AC.

To begin with similarities, all four appear to reduce noise and provide a blacker backdrop against which to enjoy music. Of the four the effect of the PS Audio unit was the most subtle – almost to the point that I question the efficacy of it. Using apparent noise reduction as the key determinant I found the Nordost Qv2 to be the most effective of the four, particularly when multiple units are employed.

Without prejudice to the above, I found the Ansuz Sparkz and Sparkz TC (Telsa coil) to act different to the Nordost Qv2. Whilst the Qv2 majored on noise reduction and is effective in reducing the noise floor, the Sparkz products succeed in making the resulting sound more musical and lifelike. Moreover, the Sparkz noticeably improves the front to back soundstage adding dimensionality and spatial acuity to instruments within their specific locality in the soundstage. Controversially I would say here that musicality is more than the mere reduction of noise as I'd dare say many turntable owners would attest.

In sum and as I have earlier opined I find the Ansuz Sparkz to be complimentary to the Nordost Qv2.

By way of further relevant insight, I’ve further observed that if you already have good quality AC [helped enormously by the installation of dedicated AC circuits for your audio system and quality grounding] then the benefit of a Qv2 is diminished.

Finally, turning to your question on placement, the general guidance is that any of the above devices can be plugged into any outlet on the same circuit as the audio system. Personally, I prefer the Sparkz TC at the wall socket and the Sparkz and Qv2 plugged in the distributor.

    Hi Ralph,

First off, thanks for the kind welcome, as I'm honored to be amongst what I see as a very diverse group of music lovers, and many whom own system mere mortals can only read about in passing. But it's the little aftermarket devices like these, that I see as something which many simply overlook as snake oil to some extremes, yet I've to believe in what I hear while demoing such devices.

You certainly have a keen insight into each of these, and have offered a clearer vision of what I'd be aiming for, so trust me, your words have reached a person of kindred spirit, as well as like mind, and I shall pursue these devices accordingly.

    Much respect,

    Hello Ralph,

Last one on this topic, but from what I've gathered it seems as if I'll need a single Sparkz TC on the actual AC Outlet, but maybe 2 - 3 of either the passive Sparkz or Qv2 passed onto the distributor itself - is this more or less correct?.

Thanks again for opening my mind to the possibilities of Sound Enhancers as well as Line Harmonizer type devices, I'm all in.

No universal answer to this question exists other than – it is as “your” ears find.

To underpin this comment I know of some audiophiles who believe “sound enhancers” or “line harmonizers” to be complete nonsense and worthy of a free no return pass to join other overgrown infants at the Fletcher Memorial Home. Yet other audiophiles are satisfied with a couple Sparkz or Qv2’s in their system and yet others still who really ‘push the boat out’ and series up three distribution blocks just so they can fill them with 20 or so ‘enhancers’.

    Kiwi,

Thanks again for taking the time to offer some sort of guild line to what's needed, as I general purchase said devices through a firm here stateside called the Cable Company, I'll try to borrow/demo up to 3 or 4 of said Nordost Qv2s to get a feel for what feels right, without flattening the music?.

Once again, you've opened my mind to the possibities of growth, and for which I'm very grateful.

    Good morning Gentlemen,

Delighted to have joined the AS community , looks very interesting and thought-provoking....

Just a short comment on the Raidho D-1's . I have noticed numerous references to Nordost , given Lars' previous life there as well as one comment early on that the D-1's and all Raidho speakers are wired with Nordost. While this may been true at some point, it is no longer. Lars informed me last week (I own a pair of D-1's) that the internal wiring is all Ansuz. Which is perfectly congruent with comments on this thread about excellent system synergy with Raidho's . To the extent therefore, that Raidho's & Ansuz cables are voiced together it makes intuitive sense that the match would be exceptional.

    Welcome Bobolaclune!

At one time Raidho speakers were internally wired with Nordost cables; Valhalla & Odin, model dependent.

Congrats on the purchase of Raidho D1 loudspeakers. They are exceptional! What (if any) Ansuz ancillaries are you using in your system?

Hi Ralph, thanks for the warm welcome. I'm still at the point where I'm investigating Ansuz , AS has a very informative and lively debate on the subject but I have to confess that Ansuz' pricing is not shy!

    Re: Ansuz Cables & Accessories

I heard the Raidho C1.1 with A-level Ansuz and Nordost Valhalla speaker cables.
Although the Valhallas are twice as expensive it was the Ansuz that fleshed out and gave extra richness to these very resolving but otherwise lean speakers.

IMO, on Raidho speakers the Nordost is to the Ansuz what an ink sketch is to the full painting: maybe the lines are clearer but all color is missing.

    Re: Ansuz Cables & Accessories

An interesting read for Ansuz cable users. What do users think about this?

    Sound investments
To get the full potential out of any audio it is important that your supply of current is as good as possible. With Ansuz Mainz products, it is possible to design combinations to match the best High End systems. Logically, you do not want to invest heavier than needed for you set-up and still get the best level of performance, with durable upgrade possibilities.

    Cable lengths matters
Due to the construction of Ansuz cables, you will always get a more positive influence on the sound quality when using longer cables. Obviously, there are limitations to how long cables you want in your system. However, any Ansuz cable in two meter will clearly sound better than a one meter – four meter performs better that a two meter.

Quality level is superior to cable lengths
An Ansuz cable in a higher quality level will outperform any length of cable from a lower level. So, if you do not need the length of an 4 meter Ansuz Aluminum you should rather go for a 2 meter Ansuz Ceramic.

    Electrical grounding
All Ansuz Mainz cables feature DGC technology® (Direct Ground Connector). With all your components connected with Mainz cables to an Ansuz Mainz 8 power distributor, you will minimize the ground potential between your devices and thus minimize ground current and signal induced fluctuations.
It can be an advantage to connect Ansuz Mainz cables to a grounded wall power socket. However, it is not necessary, if you use an Ansuz power distributor. The Ansuz Mainz 8 feature an extremely low impedance star grounding configuration.

Examples on Ansuz Mainz systems that are easy upgradable:
    Fig. 1-4

    Prioritized upgrade path.

Nice upgrade piece. I wish all cable/accessory manufacturer would do something like this.

Obviously every system is different and you have to listen for yourself, but it's nice to have a starting point.

    Re: Ansuz Cables & Accessories

My view is that loudspeaker cables should be as short as possible. Common length is 2m-2.5m.
Signal cables should be as short as possible but not shorter than 1m. 1.2m-1.5m for analog RCA/XLR is my preferred length for source. 2m-3m for amps. 8m-10m for subs. You can go longer XLRs if your equipment is 'balanced' end to end.

When it comes to power cables, some say there is a sweet spot at 1.8m-2.0m depending upon that application. I have had no negative effects using lengths as short as 600mm into a power conditioner.

There is no hard rule but shorter is better IMO. I'm not sure about any vendor suggesting that longer is better when it comes to wire.

Yes, that comment caught my attention as well. Nordost also claim that longer lengths of PC sound better.

Based on all we know about capacitance, inductance, resistance, the importance of instantaneous current, shielding of from stray magnetic and electric fields, etc. etc., I find this statement preposterous. More length will be different, no question; but better? Please provide any plausible science as to why? The only reason I would ever consider lengthening any cable be it power, interconnect or speaker cable beyond what is the minimum necessary to achieve my functional layout requirements might be for impedance matching between mismatched components but that's a suboptimum approach to the problem.

But that's me. Can someone enlighten me?

For speaker cable Nordost states 4m (or multiple thereof) is ideal. Turns out I need 4m so I personally can't say if it's true. I've also heard with coax digital cables (any brand) 1.5m or more is ideal. I need only 1 meter and at the time I couldn't afford anything longer. I hope to meet Lars after the RMAF and that would be a great question to get an explanation as to why.

Personally I would think shorter is better but it could be that with short cables higher quality may not make as much of an impact on sound. Again my best guess

    Ansuz Cables & Accessories

I have compared A 2 m diamond with a 4 m Diamond power cord feeding my Mainz 8. There was definitely a small audible difference. In my room, with my equipment, full loom of Ansuz cables I felt the base was slightly tighter and the background was quieter with the 4 meter cable. It definitely is a "cost not a concern" investment. I could only recommend this to someone with unlimited disposal income and was trying to get every last bit of performance out of their system. I have not tried this with less expensive systems or cables that are moderately priced. So I can not say that there would be an audible difference in every application.

I trust Davids judgement a great deal but would love to hear a science based explanation as to what might be happening here........I can't quite get my head around it.

    From Ansuz:

IN A PERFECT WORLDAnsuz cables would be totally non inductive with a free floating stream of power or signals to your HIFI units. Also it would be with zero capacitance, giving you full effect no matter what.
The Ansuz Cable-series succeed in creating a significant reduction of inductive interference and taking capacitance to a minimum, pushing the allround performance of our cables closer to perfect.

Yet IMO more length reverses all these stated design goals by creating:

    More resistance
    More capacitance
    More inductance
More exposure to stray electrical and magnetic fields

Rather, in a perfect world it seems to me a "free floating stream of power" would be a cable of no length whatsoever. As I said above, can someone enlighten me.

    Re: Ansuz Cables & Accessories

Have you looked at the difference in cost, for example, in extending the length for Odin?
2.5M speaker cable: $29,000. 4M speaker cable $38,000. List price but you get the idea. The power and ICs are just as costly as you lengthen them. I bought exactly the lengths I needed and still spent a ridiculous amount of money.

I met Lars and asked the 4m question. He said he couldn't explain it but did a demo with a 2 and 4m power cable (Ansuz diamond of course). He thinks it's a mechanical factor that he doesn't know to prove it. He was right - the 4m power cord added some richness and detail to the sound without sounding analytical. Lars also stated the only real test is to compare a 1 - 2 and 4m side by side. He also stated he never uses a power cable less than 2m because they sound the worst. We didn't have any shorter than 2 meters to hear that.

It was a great demo and an educational experience. Many thanks to Le Roy for hosting the event. What a gracious guy with the best system I've ever heard. Lars too is a great people person who takes the time to explain the answer to any question.

At CES 2015 Ansuz have introduced a new X-Series of cables, which are shortly scheduled for commercial release. The series includes a power cord, interconnect and speaker cables.

The CES demonstration used a Hegel source (transport); Jeff Rowland Continuum S2 integrated amplifier and Scansonic MB-2.5 loudspeakers. Also clearly seen in the above photo is the employment of a Ansuz Mainz distributor, Darkz footers, Darkz cable lifters, Raidho Rack (A&B modules) and AStri's QT line of acoustic panels.

hello everyone. I am a new user in the system has two powercable Ansuz C and interconnect C. I wanted to complete the brand as it is said to be better than the whole. Currently used as a speaker cable Kimber 3035 and jumpers 9038. Unfortunately I can not try the speaker cables. I wanted to know if it was better to invest in speaker and jumpers C 1mt powercable for my computer, or just go on speaker and jumpers D? Set-up: MSB Platinum plus, gryphon diablo, totem wind.

I wanted to know if it was better to invest in speaker and jumpers C 1mt powercable for my computer, or just go on speaker and jumpers D? Set-up: MSB Platinum plus, gryphon diablo, totem wind.
Are you happy with the way things are sounding now?

I do believe in the same manufacturer full loom theory, so all Ansuz C sounds like a good strategy. The D is a crazy big jump in price. Ansuz C is the sweet spot.

Yes I like the sound and reflects the impressions of the forum. My supplier I would withdraw the Kimber and jumpers so I go near to D maybe with length 1.5. If I stayed with speaker and ponticeli C could think of an additional power cable C on their computer audio or power strip ...

    Hi Sunny

Welcome into the Ansuz world. Yes, they make quite an impressive performance..starting from the POM.
I have also some POM, Alu and also some Ceramic cables of them.. the Diamonds, I have only heard in demo´s.. need some time to save up for those

I have also not heard the X series.. agree , attractive price range and if they just have some of the bigger brothers DNA in them, they will make wonders
