Aavik/Borresen System Owners - Please post your systems
I'm very happy with my big Naim system, but contemplate that at some point I'll want to downsize/simplify. Something like the Aavik U 380 + 03 speakers seems a pretty high end, but well-matched system.
Owners of similar systems -- what did you come from and what sold you on the combo?Sources: Naim ND555/555PS | Roon Nucleus | Naim Soltstice Special Edition turntable and phono stage

Re: Aavik/Borresen System Owners - Please post your systems
I came from the Raidho D1/D2 and D2.1 with an Octave V110 tube integrated. The Octave had replaced a Bryston B100sst. The V110 had a more fluid sound and more control compared to the Bryston. The Octave did run out of stream when playing loud. Then I went to the Aavik U300 which had much more control at all listening levels. I then got the D3.1's to pick up the midrange magic the dedicated mid driver had to offer.
Then I heard the B01/B02 and B03. Honestly out of the box I wasn't very impressed but then again I was used to the sound of fully broken in D3.1's. As they broke in I could hear some real potential especially with the 03's. The mids were much clearer and more natural sounding. Something I had noticed after mine were broken in was the 'room boom' I had with Dynaudio C1 and C1 Signatures along with the Raidho's was reduced by a good 90%.
I was able to do an in home demo of the U380 and I will say it is even more natural sounding than the U300. Like adding your first D-TC power cable.George

Do you connect the UnitiServe to the U-300 with a digital cable (BNC)? What do you think of the dac section, vs. the many stand-alone dac options?

Yes I also have a Naim DS5 XS 2 that I have hooked via the Ansuz Digital D-TC cable. My previous DAC was the Naim nDac with the XP5XS power supply. I personally think the Aavik internal Dac is better. Not by leaps and bounds but better.

IMO Audionet Humboldt is the best match for Borresen o3s.

I upgraded the power supply on my Gigafoil v4 to a Weiss PSU 102. It’s very nice step up. But with the new model, you’re looking at $2000 before even investing in a SOTA linear power supply.
