Cleaning continuum cone stains
Hello,
I'm Andrés from Argentina.
I have the B&W 805 d3 bookshelfs, a stain appeared on one of the continuum cones, I would like to know how to clean it without damaging the material. I do not know what type of stain it is.
I would very much appreciate your comments.

I will go out in a limb… it looks like something left behind by an insect that chose to rest for a while on your speaker, so most likely organic in nature. If that is a carbon fiber cone, I would first just try a damp cotton swab using only water. You might also try licking a swab to get a wee-bit of saliva on it. If the stain is organic the enzymes in saliva will dissolve it.
(when I was a golfer, and the grass on my irons wouldn’t come out from the grooves, I would spit on the club face then wipe it off. Enzymes in saliva are great for dissolving organic stuff.)

Thank you very much for your messages!!
Finally I spoke with the local representative in Argentina as suggested by @Fermil and they recommended cleaning it with a multipurpose glass cleaner with a microfiber cloth and it worked !!!
Everything came out !!! Better than new !!
Haha I'm happy !!!
Given how obsessive I am with my equipment, I had been concerned.

I’m very happy you were able to solve it. A tiny thing but with our gear we can be obsessive at times, and worried how not to inflict damage. I am already super cautious so I understand having anxiety over cleaning a cone.

Spots appearing on the continuum cones appears to be a common problem cause of humidity. Apparently B&W are replacing it under warranty.
I guess your was some debris rather then the defect other users are having..

I wanted to resurrect this thread as I know exactly what that stain is. It is a secretion from the common house moth. It is disgusting and incredibly difficult to remove after it's set for a while. I get it in my window sills but more importantly, I get it on my car paint in the garage.
I found this thread researching Continuum mold. It's a hot topic right now for those who keep their speakers in a high humidity environment, with a lot of blame being directed towards B&W instead of taking responsibility for managing their own environment, to include humidity. It's frustrating to see the ignorance on the topic. Guess what? When things get wet, they mold. That includes speaker cones, drywall, three toed sloths and your mom's Duran Duran shirt from 1985.
