I just performed the best modification that can be done to our Z's!

What a transformation! The pedal set to max height and max modulation zone.

No, this isn't one of BMW's "Frozen" colors so I'll have to wax it like normal.

So many great looking cars in the thread. I sometimes wonder what job people have to afford those 100k+ euro cars.

Without options a BMW M4 would cost me new 110k euro. That more then I make in 3 years.

LOL! Yeah, you could say that. It's still not optimal though. I need to get in there and tweak it some more. It's just a major PITA as it's way up there behind the dash, and when you make one adjustment, you have to make a total of three other adjustments (meaning adjusting the cable angle/length and both switches).

you expect this thing to turn? the steering wheel is only there to help keep it pointed in a straight line. trying to negotiate a curve with only half throttle will launch you into the weeds. its not a pretty sight.

Finally, after 5 months, these Motordyne test pipes are installed. Definitely felt a rather big bump in performance, and of course, sound. Now I can move on to the tuning!

    Re: Let's see your ride

    Thanks George!

Not only does Motordyne claim gains of 22 hp at the wheels with these (including an intake and cat-back), but there's also dozens of people who have dyno'd they Z's before and after installing these, all showing similar gains of 18 to 23 hp at the rear wheels. And after removing the stock cats and looking at both ends, I now know why that's possible. It's a wonder this poor engine could even push the exhaust through those things. The front half of the cats are something like 1400 or 1600 cell honeycomb, the back half looks like someone shoved an entire roll of paper towels in there!

Anyway, that 20 -/+ hp increase is definitely noticeable! Not only is throttle response razor sharp and instant, the engine revs much easier and quicker, and you can really feel it pull much stronger from about 4k rpm up to redline. The rear tires easily break loose going into 2nd, kicking the rear sideways. And that's with these sticky Continental 285/40-19's!

On top of that, this is all running the "off the shelf tune" from EcuTek, which is basically the stock map with a little fuel pulled to lean it out a bit (stock runs super fat) and just a little bit of advanced ignition timing. When we start on tuning Maps 2 thru 4, those are going to adjust fuel trims, cam timing, VVTL timing (the real power maker), and a few other things. Also possibly E85! That will be getting me close to 400 hp at the crank! Not bad at all for all motor V6!

Too cool Tommie !! I love Road America, haven't been there since the mid eighties but my son and I are planning to take in the IMSA race this year.

OK, gotta ask..... were you one of those 'Hippie Chicks' back in the day ?

    Re: Let's see your ride

Hippy Chick.....have no idea. Probably was too drunk....LOL. I spent lots of time doing things not very productive.... I will say, I have not had a drink in over 29 years... a good friend of Bill's

But, for rides, Porsches have been my favorite, currently the photo of my 1999, 996 Cabriolet, posted earlier on this forum is what I drive occasionally. Always have had gasoline in my blood. Oh, the 996 runs an open exhaust from the cat back. Not a daily driver but hellacious when one gets into it. My first car, a 1958 VW bug, also had open exhaust, plus two Amal motorcycle carbs on it...... blew 7 foot flames out the tail pipes when backing off.....as I whipped up on my boy friends driving their MG TD's and TF's....

Here are a few new photos of my Mustang GT. What you see in the front is not a radiator, it's a intercooler for the ProCharger Supercharger.

Thank you, sir! It's certainly nice to finally have the exhaust and tunes finished finally. It's only an extra 50 hp or so over stock, but it makes a big difference, especially that razor sharp throttle response, and of course the lovely noise this motor makes.

My ride is a 2010 Toyota Camry Touring which has very low miles (just under 22,000 miles) and is in immaculate condition. Fairly humble compared to many cars posted here, but as they say, she's got it where it counts (see car audio pics below) .

    Focal 690CV 6 x 9's with Dynamat installed

Front door with Focal Bam insulation & MDF mounting finished

With Focal 165W-RC Utopia front splits installed

OK, this is a small portion of one of my "Rides", but after all, it is the important part.

CanAmSpyder_Exhaust_11.21.2016_TFL-1 by Tommie Lauer, on Flickr

Oh BTW, I only ride with earplugs. What the photo shows is a Cherry Bomb glass filled (maybe) 2 1/2 inch tube, which in some small way reduces (poor word for this) the sound from the CanAm Spyder F3. The first muffler has been replaced by a unrestricted straight pipe.

Essentially, a fully open exhaust which is not too loud with very small throttle, but when hammered, big sound. And when closed throttle on over run, lots of crackles. Even cracks between shifts. The Rotex 1330 cc engine is a screamer.

A nice tweak I did to my Porsche 991 - Burmester stereo, is I swapped the Burmester tweeters for these Focal F-53K tweeters.
***Also disconnected the center dash speaker which screws up the stereo imaging.
    Sounds even better!!

Also, added mesh grill to protect the center radiator.
Why Porsche never designed this is beyond me!
