    Re: Let's see your ride

Still waiting for my hand crafted carbon fiber front lip to come in from Japan, but while I'm waiting, I ordered a new clutch pedal assembly. The stock one sucks, no feel, no feedback of any kind, and the narrowest window where the clutch actually grabs (friction window), causing many jerky 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd gear shifts. It makes you look and feel like you just learned how to drive a stick.

This aftermarket one is all laser cut, designed and hand assembled by one man up in Canada. It's fully adjustable on the fly with a turn of a knob. You can adjust the friction window to anything you like for quicker shifts or smoother modulation or anywhere in between. You can also have that window anywhere in the travel of the pedal, all the way at the top, all the way at the floor, or anywhere in between. On top of that, you can also adjust the physical height of the pedal as well as the weight of the pedal.

Well darn it, I did it again. Now that I'm waiting for both the lip spoiler and the clutch assembly to arrive, I've been browsing the net for other goodies. This time, improving that good ole' exhaust flow in the way of an HKS Hi-Power cat-back exhaust system. Fun times!

I'm still debating on going with high-flow cats or resonated test pipes, since we have no emissions tests down here. No need to upgrade the stock exhaust manifolds as they are actual equal length shorty headers. Everyone says upgrading them only nets you maybe 4-5 whp. Not enough for gain for the major PITA of removal of the stockers and installation of the new.

I'd be better off spending that money converting over to E85 as there are gains of up to nearly 20 hp and torque possible across the board with a tune and stock GT-R injectors.

My wife's new Challenger. Scat Pack Shaker package (6.4L with a Shaker Hood). We have owned several performance cars in the past (from Vettes to 911's and various others), and I have to say that this Challenger is one of the most fun we have had. Tons of room inside, lots of power, fairly decent handling and incredibly smooth ride. It's quite a blast really. The 6.4 also sounds quite amazing....

I'll stick with 93. I'm upgrading to equal length long tube headers with no cats. I'll net at least 30 HP.

I'll take a clutch any day of the week. That's what turned me off about the Alfa 4C. It only comes with paddle shifters because the foot wells are way too small for three pedals. No thank you.

Made another purchase, to finish off the exhaust. Decided on replacing the stock cats with test pipes, Motordyne ART test pipes to be exact.

Now that you mentioned it... LOL

These test pipes are quieter than straight test pipes AND high-flow cats, plus they make more power than the other two while retaining low end torque. Thanks in part to those Helmholtz resonators, but also because of the designer/business owner as he's literally a rocket scientist that also works full time in the aerospace industry. They've been fine tuned over the past few years with the size, length, the "dome" end cap, and the amount of packing material in the resonator. Nearly a full 20 hp & torque increase throughout the entire rpm range, with the bulk of it through the mid-band where it matters most.

The car stock puts down 285 hp to the wheels (332 hp crank), with this full exhaust, I should be right around the 306-312 whp mark which puts me right around 355-360 hp at the crank. And that's with no tune yet and everything else stock. Not too shabby at all for the amount of money spent thus far.

    @chops

Those just look beautiful. And, the sound of cubic inches, always "music" to my ears.

One reason I like the vintage car racing, e.g.,

    https://www.flickr.com/photos/fantin...57671038113996

....is that because they are "vintage" they are allowed to run the exhaust system as original. Now most race cars run some type of muffled exhaust, even the WoO sprint cars.

    https://www.flickr.com/photos/fantin...57658585401373

Another "ride" is a new Can Am Spyder F3 which is undergoing an improvement in its sound...will post up something once completed.

Why thank you, George! That's very generous of you!

And just as an update, my Motordyne ART pipes came in today! I called up a shop over in Winter Haven that my brother uses (they're right next door to his office and literally right down the street from the crappy Fiat dealership that my brothers and I bought our Abarths from. I'm headed over in the morning to have the exhaust installed!

And for some odd reason, my phone isn't automatically uploading the pics to my PC. Once I figure that out, I'll post up a couple pics of the pipes. I'll take pics of the install tomorrow and post those as well.

LOL! Yeah Randy. Here lately it's just been getting used on a daily basis. Nothing has changed with it in a while since I got those Martin Logan's. The Outlaw sub is still sitting there with the dead amp. I'll get around to it eventually, but it's only really needed for movies, which we don't watch that many of.

As for the Z, I got the exhaust installed today. Unfortunately though, due to time constraints and mainly technical difficulty, the Motordyne ART test pipes weren't installed.

Anyway, here's a pic of the stock exhaust with the axle back muffler delete section...

And here's the HKS system installed, just before the tips were installed...

    And on the ground...

I think I'm going to push in those tips a bit more also...

Thanks George! I wish I was able to get the ART pipes installed as well, BUT maybe it's a blessing in disguise. If I can sell off a few things soon enough, I can order a set of headers and just have those installed instead of screwing around with the stock ones (which are actually quite good tubular headers to begin with). Just drop those stockers with the cats still mounted and throw on the new headers.

Charles, I just noticed by your car tag you live in Lakeland. I'm in Seffner, we are just about 45mins from each other.

LOL! Yeah, I'm not too keen on the blue stuff, but that's the way they come. I did slide those tips back about a half inch today though. Now they're even with the edge of the bumper cut-outs, so it looks much better.

And man, I sure hope those Motordyne pipes bump up the output of this exhaust. It sounds good, but just too quiet again... Nearly stock, but with bite.

Love that carbon diffuser. They have for the Mustang GT S550. I may get down the road.

    Re: Let's see your ride

Speaking of getting things... Arriving tomorrow sometime is the Z1 intake for my car, followed by the EcuTek ProECU programmer a couple days later.

    Mine will be all black...

And of course, the tuner which will include a plethora of user adjustable parameters on the fly such as launch control, traction control, retard/advance timing, oil temp gauge hi-jack to display AFR, timing, Lambda, Tachometer hi-jack for switching between various tunes including different tunes for 93 octane and E85, and RPM for launch control. All accessible via the steering wheel cruise control buttons.

I need to find me some GT-R injectors so I can run E85 on this little beast. Luckily, there's a station right down the street that has it!
