I pretty much gave up tracking so I can enjoy this hobby more. But were I continue to track, a mid-engine Porsche would be the way I would go. A neighbor of mine trade in his Porsche 911 for a Boxster Spyder. Beautiful car!

So do I. I had a 2007 BMW 328 before this car, and I vast prefer it! It's a TDI, so I get 40 mpg on the highway, it's roomier inside, has a smoother/quieter ride, and I think it looks just as good. It might not take cures at death-defying speeds, but it handles plenty well enough.

Allen, I did track for about twenty years on motorcycles, so for me it's all about handling. The BMW is a great handling car and gives me much fun behind the wheel, but the limits of the Cayman are beyond my skill level. Of course, the BMW's probably are, too! Whenever I take a corner at speed in the BMW it delivers all one could ask, but if I take the same corner at the same speed in the Porsche, it seems to say to me, "Is that all you've got?" Now, neither of these machines are all that powerful, their acceleration is mild compared to an M4 or a Turbo 911, but their lighter weight, especially the Porsche, make for fabulous handling.

    Steve

Very nice! A good friend of mine just traded in his two or three year old Porsche 911 Turbo for a new silver M4. He found the Porsche was fine on the street, but he lacked ultimate confidence in it on the track. First time out on the track with the M4 and he bested the best times he could manage with the Turbo 911! I thought the M4 was fast from the passenger seat. For some reason, he won't let me behind the wheel, LOL!

Not sure which Turbo your friend owned (2-3 years implies 991) but a base 991 Carrera was compared to an M4 by EVO. Link below:

The M4 is a very nice car, but I'm certain it could not best a 991 Turbo.

Don't know why the last pic is upside-down. Anyways, love the thread and everyone's cars .

    Re: Let's see your ride

No updates since June, so to keep the conversation going pictured below is my 1988 Toyota MR2 Supercharger. At nearly 30 years old this is now a classic car and has been a restoration project over the past two years. Still some more work to do, but a beautiful car to drive through twisty mountain roads.

Borresen Acoustics Loudspeakers, Borresen Model 01 Compact monitor loudspeakers with Ansuz Darkz T2s Supreme resonance control, Audio Video Manufaktur GmbH (AVM) Inspiration amplifier & streamer, Innuos Zen MKII music server, Ansuz Acoustics cables & accessories. Please visit my system thread hosted on Audioshark for more details. Disclosure: The author is materially connected to Ansuz, Aavik & Borresen Acoustics via friendship with an owner.
