I was at that lecture when Lt Col Maury Rosenberg made the presentation at the Western Museum of Flight's monthly meeting. He also talked about the closest they came to being shot down, it was the mid-80s flying along the DMZ (N Korea) when a SAM came within a mile of them. For the record, the SR71 was fired upon over a thousand times and none were successfully brought down.

In So. Cal we have five BBs on static display, three of them are CIA A-12s. if you had to choose one to visit I suggest March Air Reserve Base Museum outside of Riverside, the next best imo would be Blackbird park outside Edwards AFB.
