Aurender drop out problem

Dropout has largely been resolved after Aurender put in a patch but another problem is my Ayre QX5 DAC USB input often cannot recognize aurender ! I realized a few users also use Ayre QX5 twenty

None. Your problem is probably related to your network or something else. Roon I have found to be buggy as hell, but the Aurender has been rock solid.

Probably not a network problem. As I mentioned before, I don’t do streaming on my N10, but only 16/44.1 ripped disks which are stored in the HDD of the Aurender which I’ve played many times since owning my N10 in February 2016. Furthermore, we regularly stream movies on the same network in our home theater system, some which are 4K HDR, and have had absolutely no dropouts in there; either audio or video. At this time, the dropouts in my stereo have stopped and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that this is the end of it.

FOLLOW UP:

The dropouts have resumed.

Ari of Aurender sent me an RA# today and my N10 is off to Aurender now.

I am sure the problem will be resolved with the only negative factor being time away, and with that time passes all too quickly!

Thanks @UltraFast69,

Yes, hopefully so. Since the dropouts are infrequent, it might take them awhile to find the source of the problem. At least I have my SACD collection of 131 disks and various CDs to spin on my transport in the meantime. According to my tracking number, Aurender should get my N10 tomorrow morning and Ari told me that they aren’t that busy now which is a good thing. i’ll post updates for anyone that might be interested.

As the N10 does not seems to be resolved after so many months, I am loosing patience and wish to ask whether anyone has experience with using Roon as as a replacement to Aurender? Any ideas on hard ware hook,I have about 4- 5TB of high resolution music?

Yes, but only using a Apple computer that worked for the time but replaced with N10. Though the Roon interface is nice IMO.

I really would look at your network, and what Aurender connects to, and the file size you are trying to play

Assuming all that is ok, request a RTN and send it in as painful as that is.

You have an excellent piece!

@Mattie. My local high end dealer who originally sold me my N10 recommends Roon Nucleus as an alternative to Aurender N10 and speaks highly of Roon and the Roon Nucleus. If I continue to have issues with my N10 once that it comes back from service, I am going to check out the Nucleus.

I noticed the dropout occurs mainly with music stored in Music1, so I suspect the HDD may be getting worn out and is thinking of attempting to replace a new 2TB, (or even 4TB, but remembered someone mentioned the 2 HDD must be same size?).
Can anyone teach me how best to go about this on an N10? Thxs

I’m curious, you sent the unit too Aurender. What did they find? My N10 which is about as old as yours started to do the same thing.

I have used Roon for quite a while now. It replaced my Logitech Music Server and a Sony app that is similar to the Aurender app.
I have had absolutely no problems with Roon. It is solid. I believe that most folks experiencing Roon issues is because of their set up and not because of Roon.
I have no experience with the Aurender app but based on what I have read it is similar to the Sony app (except that the Aurender does Tidsl/Qobuz and Sony only does Spotify). The Sony app works fine and has an ok music interface but it does not have the versatility or power of Roon.
Something to consider: In the case of the Sony and Aurender units, when you sent the unit away for service, your music goes away too. And if your drive fails, unless your music is being backed up automatically every day, you will lose some music too.
I decided to use a music service as my primary music source. Then you can always have your library available to multiple devices and never have to worry if your hard drive or SSD is failing. Just my 2cents.

Aurender tried remote check my N10 and do not have any solutions. They are not helpful. They kept saying this is a unique problem but apparently it’s not? Maybe you can also write to Camille and mention the same issue. I still suspect it’s the hdd getting old.

The N10 only uses the hard drive to cache music to the internal SSD. Once it’s on the SSD it plays from the SSD. I just replaced my Samsung 250gb 850 SSD with a larger 500gb Samsung 860 SSD. I’ll see if it solves the problem.

Dear Fm540i, That’s a great idea, I think eventually the hard disk will get tired and replacement is inevitable. I wish to replace mine, can you be kind enough to show me how best to go about doing it. If you think more appropriate, I can give you my email

You need to be able to format a new SSD in Ext4. It’s a Linux format. Aurender runs Linux. The SSD has 4 partitions. Data, ?, Linux swap, music cache which is the largest partition. I was surprised to find my music cache partition had nearly 160gb of data. I thought the cache was cleared after use.

It requires 2 USB to Sata3 adapters, a USB stick 7-10gb, Linux Live Boot Creator, and Clonezilla Live ISO.

I can do it for you but youÂ’d have to mail me the SSD, old and new.

Fred

The new update to the software coming very soon (next week) allows formatting of SSD’s. In the meantime, Aurender can do it for you remotely, just open a remote support ticket through the app. They did it for me last week. Remember to use Folder View at the top to confirm format.

Wow, sounds complicated. I will have my friend who’s a computer engineer to see whether he can do it locally!

Great news from Mike below. If true it will make it much easier. It’s actually easy but if Aurender builds it in to the Operating System it would be great.

My new Samsung 960 SSD seems more responsive than the SSD that’s been running for the last 5-6 years. Next I’ll change out memory from 4gb to 8gb. It’s really easy.

Reach out if you need help.

That would be great news. Looking forward to giving it a try. I have another N10 to update.
