    Announcing the NEW Aurender N20

We’ve been busy working on new models that fill in the gap in both performance and price between the current model N10 and flagship W20SE. The new model N20 is an upgraded-in-every-way N10, much like how the W20SE evolved from the original W20. All new circuit topologies inside and a fresh new cosmetic exterior make this a product sure to be a big success.
    N20 Highlights and Features:
The brand new linear power supply for N20 utilizes 2 transformers, 4 cores, large audio-grade capacitors, and isolated grounding! It is extremely sophisticated and dead quiet! A power supply this good contributes immediately audible improvements to any audio component.
Grounding for the SPDIF outputs is now isolated by a separate transformer for an even lower noise floor on AES/EBU, Coax RCA & BNC, and Toslink outputs compared to N10.
All new circuit boards populated with higher precision OCXO clock and oscillator exhibiting 4 to 10 times more stability (frequency stability vs. load) than the N10. Musicality, timing, pace and rhythm are greatly enhanced.
Like A30, ACS10 and ACS100, the N20 features a built-in super capacitor-based uninterruptible power supply. This prevents disc and operating system corruption in the event of an abrupt power outage by safely shutting down the system.
A word clock input facilitates syncing N20 with an external word clock.
N20 features a full color 8.8” 1980 x 480 wide screen as found on A30. The chassis size is just slightly taller than the N10 giving it a more substantial appearance.
The N20 is supplied without hard drives installed. As with N100SC and ACS100, hard drives are the customer’s choice. Each of the two rear panel mounting sleds accommodates a 1, 2,4 or 8TB 2.5 inch SSD or up to 5TB 15mm height 2.5inch HDDs. Since users have different storage requirements, we feel this is the best way to satisfy everyone.
Next-generation USB Audio Class 2.0 Module designed with an emphasis on lowering jitter and lowest possible latency.
Like the W20SE and ACS10, the N20 uses a double isolated LAN port for filter out router induced noise.
Double the DRAM (8GB) of the N10 providing ample system resource for support of native DSD 512 playback.
Improved and higher capacity SSD for caching. Upgraded to 500GB M2 NVME. N10 uses a 2.5” 240GB SATA.
Available in silver or black finish.
    Suggested Retail Price: $12,000.

Very nice indeed! Would be great if they would publish what audio formats and which streaming providers are supported.

Glad to see another great product (at least on paper) in this music server/streamer space.

Does the N20 connected to a network find network DAC's (like your MSB) and access those DAC's via the network? Isn't the MSRP of the N20 close to the W20SE or was that the older W20.

    Interesting unit.

The N20 connects to your DAC via any of its digital outputs.

W20 was $18k I believe when it first came out and the W20SE is $22k with 4TB of SSD or $23,500 with 8TB SSD.

Aurender also offers the incredible Aurender Content Server and Ripper for those needing central storage and ripping.

I’m not a techie, so please bear with me. Does “each of the two ... sleds accommodates a[n] ... 8TB SSD” mean that the N20 can accommodate up to 16 TB of internal storage? But the customer has to install the drives herself?

Excellent point. That's how things used to be. Companies like Lumin, Aurender, Linn and a others have the engineering capacity to deliver digital products that are fairly easy to install and use. Even as a former tech executive, I avoid small outfits and/or doing my own servers; don't want to deal with the hassle.

Expensive but not too crazy... So for 1600$ more you could have a scary 16TB and eschew the whole NAS thing... Sweet! Are SSDs much more reliable that spinning drives or just faster?

Is the Conductor a good app? Does it work well?

An SSD that is mostly just written to and read (as opposed to frequent erasing and re-writing) should last even longer! Although the best price I can find for a Samsung 8TB SSD is about $900

In a SSD, even though a user might delete a file, it may not actually get deleted in the background until the space is needed. Controller FW algorithm will manage that.

The N20 is an appealing component with the numerous upgrades from the N10 and the ability to add 16 TB of SSD storage.

    Announcing the NEW Aurender N20

I always wondered what happens if a person were to rip his/her entire CD collection using the Aurender ripper and storage and then decides to change to another brand. Can the entire library with all metadata be transferred to a non-Aurender device and used by that device? I would assume it can but just curious.

PS. Just watched the video and it looks as if the storage is not included with the unit. In that case, I guess that one can just sell the unit and keep the drives.

If you upgrade to a N20 and had enabled MQA on your N10 do you lose that and need to repurchase? Also are all the outputs live simultaneously? Thanks

Re: Announcing the NEW Aurender N20

I recently got aurender n20 and currently feeding esoteric k-01xd via usb. Have fiber optic > sotm > English electric 8s > ENO acoustic to aurender n20. I can say without doubt n20 is amazing in all aspects. Before this I had antipodes CX > S30. It was good for sure, but seemed more digital. Don't know how to explain, but I feel aurender n20 to be more natural and organic in addition to being dynamic and resolving. I will try using spdif output to esoteric k-01xd by next week.
Also waiting for arrival of esoteric g-02x masterclock to be connected to k-01xd and aurender n20. Can't imagine how much more better it can get, when it is already sounding outstanding.

I certainly agree. The N20 is a significant upgrade from the former N10 in all aspects. It's a very high end source and our top choice here for the most demanding systems and clients since the introduction earlier this year. The build quality and wonderful display also makes this a very solid product that breathe quality.

I'm looking forward to explore the masterclock option as well, which is a new feature and possibility that was only available with the W20(SE) until now.

Great. Let me know which master clock you will be using and you findings.
On the other note, I am now using SPDIF (BNC > RCA): Gosh, incredible. No noise at all. You realize the noise in USB when you switch immediately. There might be a very tiny bit less bass, but overall tonality and sonic character of SPDIF is much better. I see how aurender website and even their tech support guys were boasting about using SPDIF to explore full potential of N20. Their build quality, looks, support is all top notch.

Ok, I am now using Aurender N20 with esoteric G-02X masterclock: The improvement in sound is very noticeable. Most noticeable is in the mids and highs with improved clarity and some sparkle. The image focus is also better. It takes the streamer to another level. Kudos to aurender.

I agree, Marcus. One of the things I really like about the Aurender is how simple and fast it is to take it out of the box, set it up, and be streaming content to it....in minutes. I think it took me all of 8 minutes from the time I took it out of the box to when I was streaming content from it to my DAC. It's "design integration" is superb.
