So I take it that means they absolutely smoke the WW Platinum 7's? And that's even before any hours are on them?

So how were your lengths Steve, all ended up being of sufficient length, you didn't feel you should have went .5 longer?

    Re: Steve's Rig

My mint DEC 2009 MDA1000 arrived today. I am using the MCD1100 as a CD transport. Siltech Golden RidgeII AES/EBU and Princess XLRs right through C1000T and MC2301s. MDA1000 is configured with bypass ON.

Cables are new and still have to break in but boy what a substantial difference to the ESS9018 Sabre32 DAC in the MCD1100. Totally different presentation. MDA1000 has a greater holographic depth of presence and resolution. The bass levels are also significant. There seems to be a greater dynamic range. It is sweeter and more natural sounding.

Although McIntosh have done an excellent job smoothing the MCD1100 implementation of the Sabre32, it is a sharper and brighter DAC in comparison. This in turn is an attempt to resolve resolution that it cannot deliver.

McIntosh made a mistake by not continuing to build on top of the MDA1000 refinement. Sabre32 was an easy SDK cop out IMO. Glad to have the McIntosh MDA in the Arsenal and it really compliments the C1000 trio and MC2301s.

When the C1000P arrives, It will be nice to A/B switch but I can tell already the MDA1000 will get all the redbook and whatever PCM I can throw at it.

Sure you will not get today's USB, nor will you get 24/192 but you will get beautiful music. The MDA1000 still has the PCM DAC magic for whatever price you can find one for. I only wish McIntosh continued to develop it further because they were on a winner here.

Suffice to say with honest conviction that the MDA1000 is more accurate to the music when it comes to redbook than any McIntosh DAC that has come after it.

Glad you were able to find one Steve. I would love to hear one in my system. Don't worry about USB, either AES/EBU or BNC are superior sounding anyway. Ditto for 24/192 in many cases too. 24/96 is often the chosen bit rate and frequency for many recordings. Now as for DSD, that's a whole 'nother discussion. A Lampi would look nice in that system though. Do you have anywhere in Australia you can hear one?

2301's are looking great too! Steve's Rig

Just noticed a smudge on the MC2301 handle. Cleaned it...Thanks!

Very happy with the MDA1000. Indeed a special DAC.

There is a Lampizator dealer here. I have spoken with him awhile back when the Bal GG was on the drawing board. StereoNet is having their first HiFi show here soon. Wasn't planning on going as the rumour is that it will be a fizzer. If Lampizator is there, I will go, otherwise wait until later in the year for the Australian HiFi Show.

I need to know that Lampizator has obtained Australian Electrical Certification which probably has by now.

Problem is I'm running out of room. My system comprises 20 single shelves now, plus 4 X power on granite tiles. Quadraspire Sunoko getting tall!

I could possibly do another double shelf but I am maxed out with power and would end up gear rotating instead.

Stunning Steve! I'm also a big fan of Furutech Flux50 and the Siltech, although mine are a bit modest.
