After more than 3 months of planning (selling & buying), intense listening and choosing the best fit (first time in my hifi journey), the system is now completed.
- The restored Thorens TD147 Jubilee with the Ortofon 2M Mono for the once in a while Mono play.
- The SME Synergy, a great plug and play combo. Not the best, but enough for me.
- Luxman D-10x SACD/DAC, the main player of all my rebook, SACD, MQA discs and of course, the decode machine for the 4TB Roon Nucleus+
- Air Tight ATC-5/ATH-3 with the ATM-300R. A very sweet and musical combo that works very well with the horn speakers. I'm now a firm believer of 300B tubes and surely a second set (standby) of Takatsuki won't hurt.
- ModWright modded Oppo UDP205. Really the only piece that survived 2 "dynasty" changes. Speaks volume of its value, price and in my heart.
- Avantgarde Uno XD (Black Piano Finish). This is a return for me as I used to own the Mezzo G2 before. Mike was right when he told me during the Raidho D-3.1 purchase 3 years back that the Uno XD was a better pair for my small room. If only I wished I listened to his advice.
- All Audience SX24 power & interconnect cables.
If for some reason I did wrong in attaching the photo, I hope Mike or Joe or someone would help fix as all the time, my good friend Dan been helping this dumb bloke.
Cheers.

wish you many years of pleasure with it in good health!
the avantgard in this color combination is utterly cool i find.
one question, are there not a bit of things in the sight to look tv?

Looks awesome Jerry and you have certainly put together some very fine components that should have nice synergy with your Avantgarde’s.

Hope you have many years of enjoyment!!

All the best Jerry, I'm right behind you (years end), 46 plus year railroad career is long enough !

Interesting change from your previous systems!

Did you consider or listen to the Silbatone amps that Cecil sells before settling on the Airtight? That’s a good match for Avantgarde too.

Congrats, very nice system.

I’ve had the Uno in my system as well for a test. The XD architecture allows to tune-in the bass nicely to room conditions.

As they say, the only constant is change [emoji3].

Very nice system , congratulations and enjoy in good health for many years to come.

TV viewing is actually relegated to just watching Bluray concerts. So far, less than 3x per year. So the blocking don’t really matters.

Yes I did but not direct to the Uno XDs. Plus I do not want to venture into a combination I never had a chance to ACTUALLY hear it but rangers by word of mouth and faith, something I did all these years and sadly end up regret than being happy for a Long time.

Understood.

While reviews and recommendations are invaluable, nothing beats actual listening experience, preferably in one’s own system.

Twice I came close to buying a DAC unheard - one British, one Italian, both highly reviewed and raved about on forums.

Fortunately, I had a chance to do a direct A-B with my Swiss DAC (no reviews then but now also highly rated) and the rest, as they say, is history.

System looks great and I’m sure sounds fantastic. Welcome to retirement. Enjoy in great health for many years!

As a fellow OPPO UDP-205 owner myself, it always amazes me to see so many hi-end systems utilizing this rather humbly-priced (at least before OPPO stopped manufacturing them) piece of kit.

Enjoy your system!
