    New Home Set Up

We are finally about moved in now. Still some painting and stuff to be done.

The system was set up yesterday. Thanks to Mike for his coordinating things with Bart who set up the system. She’s still settling in, but sounds marvelous.

That is some extreme toe in, is there always only one listener?

Toe in is right on. It's probably just my poor photo skills, but since I'm almost blind in my left eye, still ok.

We measured it after doing it by ear. Bart was only off by a 1/4" or less. He did a fantastic job!

Just one listener - but another chair next to mine is available. It is good in the other chair, but in my chair is getting better and better. Still settling in.

    Thanks.

I'm really not managing it at present. No matter what I do it will never be perfect in this room...It has some serious limitations

But the soundstage is huge. Magico / Pass / Luxman that's pretty much automatic in this size room. Sound is just gigantic - seems like it is above the ceiling and beyond the walls ... It sounds like a huge concert hall stage - really good. But a proper room would improve it even more ... I'm definitely not getting the best this system is capable of ...

Behind the right speaker is our foyer - and to right is the kitchen - so those are limitations ... We moved a silk tree behind the right speaker last night which helped a little ... I'm going to experiment with removing the tree from behind the left speaker tomorrow ... Another Audiophile is coming over tomorrow AM to offer some suggestions ...

I've already ordered an Acoustimac Panel for above the system (7' in 5 sections - Grunge music background with guitar sheet music and notes - musical event - ID # 81858052). It should be here is a few weeks. Will post new pics then. We will see if it helps any.

Bart suggested some panels for under the huge kitchen counter which is off to the right and a panel for the fireplace off to the left. So these probably will be on order soon.

Some new window treatments are definitely in order ...

These are the plans at present but I'm taking it in small steps seeing if I like what I hear within the given limitations of the room ...

    Really nice system, Calvin!

What are the Pass amps? Are they 60.8 Class A monoblocks?

As for acoustical treaments, I'm a big fan of the GIK Acoustics combination diffusers/bass traps e.g. the Alpha 4A series, etc.

    Hi Steve,

Many thanks. The Pass are 260.8s. They are Class A to 34 ...

I tried GIK first. Called them multiple times. A week without returning a call. So, I went with Acoustimac. GIK called me the afternoon I made my order with Acoustimac ... they've been swamped. I'll try GIK again when I purchase the other panels for the fireplace and under the kitchen counter.

I don't know about the quality of Acoustimac but will find out soon!
