    Paul,

Thanks for those cool photos! I love the Tungsten Silver color. It's the same as used on the James Bond Aston Martin.

Man, Christmas for both of us very early this year!

Congratulations Ken! I saw your speakers posted for sale a while back and for the life of me I couldn't figure out what one could replace those beautiful Raidho D3 with. At the time you were pretty tight lipped as to what you had your eye on. I can't wait to see pictures of your new Vandersteen's Seven Mk II's all cabled up.

    Thanks Mike,

The Raidho D-3 are extraordinary sounding loudspeakers and one heckuva great match with my Soulution gear. But once I heard the Vandersteen 7 dialed in, I knew I was hooked and had to have that sound in my listening room. My MkII's are just about ready to be shipped. I'll make sure to post some photos and initial impressions, once they arrive and are hooked up.

    Ken

Re: Alpinist (Ken) - how is your new system?

    Hi Paul,

They are taking a little longer to be completed than expected. That's fine with me because I'm still working on selling my D-3, V2. They are supposed to ship pretty soon and will take 5 days to get across the country to my dealer. He will then come out to my place and set them up and equalize them to my room. Shouldn't be too much longer.

    Best,
    Ken

Well its a good thing smooth FR wasn't traded for time domain optimization which we all know is a flawed approach to design given the preference for the latter in double blind testing.

Sorry Ken, I couldn't help myself.............

You are going to love these speakers. Must same I am jealous.

Thanks Paul! I can't wait until they are set up in my listening room. I believe the adjustability of these speakers will bring me to a higher level of sound quality than I've ever experienced in my room. Nothing to be jealous about though, the D-3.1 with a pair of high-end adjustable subwoofers can get you to the same place. And your customized listening room can bring you to an even higher level, of which I am envious.

The one thing that the measurements just don't convey is how the Vandy 7's, compared to other high-end speakers I've auditioned, strip away additional layers of coloration, distortion and noise, and produce a purity of timbre the likes of which I've never heard before. The vocals and instruments just sound more like live performers than anything I've ever experienced. When I audition them, I totally lose myself in the performance and time becomes irrelevant. Quite an experience and hard to quantify or explain.

    Best,
    Ken

    Ken,

You are a lucky man. You will absolutely love them. Bruce has some experience with Vandy's and has ALWAYS talked with reverence while referring to them. I have not heard the 7's but got a taste from the 5's. Impressive speakers.

Vandersteen 7 MkII are in the house and set up!!!!

They are truly beautiful looking speakers in tungsten silver, which shows off their great lines.

I'm already impressed as heck with the ease of their sound.

    Hi Mike,

I'll take some pics as soon as the Raidho D3's aren't blocking the view...literally!

There is a certain rightness to voices and the timbres of instruments with the Vandy 7's that's hard to put into words.

Hope you're having fun at the Munich Show. My wife and I are talking about possibly going next year. She's an opera buff and the trip would be half high-end audio and half opera.

    Best,
    Ken
