Thread: 1KW System

    1KW System

    After 2 years of having my equipement in a temperture controlled storage facility we finally moved into our new home on Long Beach Island , NJ. This system consists of Sonus Faber Stradivari speakers, Mcintosh C2300, Mcintosh MC501s x 2, J A Mitchel turntable, SME 309 tonearm with Shelter 501 MK II cartridge, Oppo 105 and PS Audio Directstream DAC fed by Mac mini music server running Roon Core. Built in is custom made for components. The built in holds the electronics for the home theater room on the other side of the wall. Here is a picture of the 2 channel room.

    The theater/media room consists of : Mcintosh MC255, Mcintosh MX100 processor, Sonus Faber Guarneri Mementos and center channel Cremona M in matching homage finish, 4 Triad amiable bronze ceiling speakers for atoms and rear surround, JL Audio F112 subwoofer, Sony 85 inch TV

    Here are a few pictures of my medial room set up before the built in is installed. All the electronics are in the 2 channel room. Waiting for shutters to be installed in the media room and a built in around the TV and to hide the sub.

    Thats the thing with the homage finish however its not a veneer, both these speakers are made with solid maple.

    That's a gorgeous system!

    If I might ask, how do you keep those amps cool? I don't see a lot of air space around them.

    The amps are 500 W mono block and I probably rarely go over 200 watts. The output transformers, which Mcintosh calls autoformers helps match the impedance to the speakers so theres very little heat given off . Whenever I put my hand ontop they always feel cool. Also there are holes cut in the right rear corner of each shelf to allow the wires to be managed with space for air to escape. Hard to tell from the pictures but I have a few inches of space top and sides of each amp
