Does anyone know which amp work better with ARC Ref 6?
Ayre MX-R Twenty or Pass X 260.8 ?

Just curious what speakers you will be using. Both amps will be great. It just depends on what you are looking for in your final voicing. I actually think the MXR-20 balanced with the Ref 6 could be an awesome combo. The Ref 6 will wake up the MXR-20 and I don’t mean that in any negative way. If you have heard both amps, you’d easily understand my comment. ARC and Pass Labs have traditionally been paired together with great success. But my previous experience pushes me towards ARC and Ayre.

ps, Ayre is not crazy about driving difficult speaker loads so please keep that in mind.

What if you flipped the combo and put the Ayre 20 series preamp with the Pass amp? Might that give you a similar scenario with the ability to drive anything within reason?

Yes, that would absolutely be a great combo - Ayre and Pass. I wish I had been able to try the KXR20 with my D’Agostino amps. I know it’s a great combo as well.

presently using a ARC / Pass combination (LS28 / X260.8's), driving a pair of Revel Studio 2's. Pure heaven for me. It is always good to know the speakers in the mix but I can't imagine the X260.8's not doing justice to damn near anything .......

I don't have experience with either pairing, but will say Ayre has a 1 megaohm input impedance, so pretty much any tube preamp on the planet can drive them.

Running a KX-5/20 with X250.8 and like it very much.
