ARC rubber footers
I have been thinking of trying out some footers for my ARC equipments in replacements of the ARC's original footers. In view that it is easy to remove the stock footers thus got me thinking of replacing them with some threaded footers. However looking under my cdp (ref9), pre (ref6) and amp (ref150) I noticed there's a whole lot of them, to be precise 4 under the pre, 5 under cdp and 7 under the amp.
So my question to fellow ARC users :
1) have you guys tried out any aftermarket threaded footers eg: stillpoints etc? what are your impressions
using them?
2) What are the thread size for the cdp, pre and amp ? by the looks of it the cdp thread size is smaller than the pre and amp.
3) For the cdp and amp did you guys replaced all of them or only 4 at each corners?
4) will there be any significant difference changing those threaded footers in comparison of getting those that you just apply under them (non threaded footers)?
I am aware that changing them or applying any kinds/materials of footers is also influenced by the racks/ platforms and the types of flooring (solid concrete/tiled/hardwood/suspended) used. But what I am asking here is more on the ARC equipments side and the overall impact that you have experienced in your system when changing them.

Re: ARC rubber footers
You will find with certain "footers"/isolation that more is not always better in some cases. A good example is Stillpoints Ultra 5's, I will not use more than 3 under a source for the simple reason I think it renders the component too clinical & subdues some of the timbre. As with everything like this some will hear something totally different from everyone else & it is a personal liking to what you hear

Re: ARC rubber footers
Yes true the amount of footers that are used under each equipments varies and "the more the merrier" is not true. I have tried some simple brass and delrin cones under my ref 150 using 3 and after that using 4 and 4 hits the spot but for my pre and cdp 3 of them does the job better than 4 cones.
There are so many variables that can be tried out under the arc's but replacing the original rubber footers is something that I have never done before and it is something that I would like to try out.
Anyone knows how many mm thread the Arc's are?

Re: ARC rubber footers
Thanks for the responses guys really appreciate it. Nice using stillpoints are you using it threaded in replacemnts for the stocks or just applying them under without removing the stock footers?

Re: ARC rubber footers
Although I don't have any ARC gear, I use Stillpoints Ultra-5s and Ultra-SS under most of my equipment. I listened to various combinations, such as using them "screwed in" to a component's footer hole, having the component's chassis directly rest on Stillpoints, and even putting them under the existing rubber feet. Specifically for the Ultra-SS, I tried unscrewing the hi-hat and screwing them directly into 1/4-20 holes when applicable.
For Ultra-5s, my preference is having the component chassis resting directly resting on the Stillpoints. Usually, I have the beveled side up (so that you could screw in risers if you want to level a component). For Ultra-5s, I generally do not use the risers. As others noted above, with Ultra-5s, I like 3 under each component.
For Ultra-SS, I prefer the small hi-hat touching the chassis of the component (thus, not screwing them in to the component). Unlike the Ultra-5s, I like 4 under each component. Also, I like using the bases for Ultra-SS so they are more stable.
Before purchasing, I borrowed some from a friend to try multiple configurations until I found the set-up I liked best in my system.
