    Chris, this is Jim Perry in Phoenix, AZ. You can see the rack you sold me in November 2014 pictured in this and my earlier post. I just want to say, thanks for the great rack, prompt delivery, and accommodating my special requests. It is really beautiful.

    Best Regards,

    Jim Perry

    Can timber nation make a set of desktop speaker stands for my audience 1+1 out of rosewood? I bought 9x9x5 bamboo risers and am closing off the open side with some East Indian rosewood thin wood 9x9 pieces (glue down after filling cube with sand). Would rather have a pro build me a pair.

    No leveling devices. The unit is spot on level on its own, and having a level slab floor helps to. But that's not saying I will not add something under the rack later on..

    I found that Cerapucs are terrific and easily adjustable. I used brass inserts to allow threading these in place. They work well and is there such a thing as over isolating? The tables are isolated also with Stillpoints under a 3" shelf and then the Black Knight feet as well. Overkill maybe but sounds great.

    Re: Timbernation Rules

    Revisiting this thread five years later and am finally going to purchase a rack from Chris. I'll outgrow my existing rack with some changes that are planned and the Timbernation racks not only look so nice, they seem utterly practical for my audio equipment needs.

    Question for those that own the Timbernation racks... Do you find the fairly standard depth of 16" shelves sufficient for your needs or is deeper (say 18" deep) more useful for some reason?

    I have to be mindful of the depth of any new rack due to room size and my current rack has 17" deep shelves with an integrated back panel so it does have a somewhat hard depth-limit whereas the Timbernation racks have an open back that I hope would allow extra deep gear no issues with the standard 16" deep shelves.

    Care to share your experiences?

    Thanks.

    Maybe I should rephrase this query of shelf depth...

    Is there anyone here that has a Timbernation rack with the standard 16" depth shelves that has found them less than sufficient for their needs and wishes for a deeper shelf?

    Hey Mike, my Timbernation is 16 inches. I house my SSP, Oppo, Laptop, NAS, etc. on it. It’s what I would consider the bare minimum. It works, but something like the SSP is sticking out the back. Not sure it would be deep enough to house some larger footprint turntables for example. Go for the 18 if you can.

    I agree, I've got the 16" and if I had it to do over would go for 18'' or even 20". I've only had one piece try to hang over but I just moved the Iso Acoustics footers in a bit.

    Thanks Mike! I was thinking the 16 inch deep shelves with the option for the TN top that covers the posts would probably get me my footprint for my 3 inch maple slab turntable base (18x24x3), but could be sacrificing valuable real estate if the shelves (mid & bottom) are not deep enough for some componentry.

    I quite like the style with the exposed top-of-the-posts too so in an 18 inch depth scenario for all shelves it would serve dual purpose for the footprint of my turntable on top and allow deeper chassis below.

    Thanks for confirming what I too was thinking Timbernation Rules

    Hi Jack,

    I appreciate the extra confirmation, thank you.

    Looking like 18 inch deep shelves it will be!

    You might also consider 10" spacing between all of the shelves unless that causes a height issue for you. Would have worked better for me with the Chardonnay and the MP-D2 Mk III in the rack for more distance above the tubes. Was not an issue when I ordered it or even later with the BHK preamp and the Directstream or Aqua DAC's.

    Jack, you and I think alike.

    The order I'll be making will be the following specification:

    3 Shelf Wide Maple Rack w/ Natural stained Shelves and Natural stained Walnut Posts - Satin Lacquer Finish top coat all
    All Shelves are 2" Thick
    WITH BRASS CONES

    26"T x 50"W x 18"D with a break down of:
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    26"T = 2" floor to bottom shelf + 2" bottom shelf T + 10" equipment + 2" mid shelf T + 8" equipment + 2" top shelf T
    50"W = usable clear opening between posts
    18"D = usable depth of shelves
    I originally was going to go with two 10" spaces for bottom to middle and middle to top but since I always seem to place preamps on that middle shelf and power amps below, that extra 2" shorter overall height would be good since I have a pretty tall cake box over my turntable.
    Which, speaking of turntables...that's a whole other thread that I'll try and post about the bearing mods and alignment process I recently did. Made a pretty significant difference in my vinyl playback.
    Re: Timbernation Rules
    Looks like a sound choice Mike. Hopefully Chris will get it out in a timely fashion. I think mine was about four weeks. If our considered new house and move goes through as planned I may look at ordering a new rack as the room will be larger and more conducive to a wider rack. I can then learn from the mistakes of the first order.
    Hey Jack, I forgot to ask...what are the dimensions of your TN rack including shelf spaces?
    Thanks again Jack. Hmmm, if you say you had some preamp's on the 8 inch shelves and it was pushing too-warm, then maybe I should go with dual 10 inch spaces.
    That or plan to not get a taller preamp, ever! LOL
