Timbernation Racks

There is no doubt that Timbernation racks are absolutely gorgeous and very high on my list for a new rack but how are they when it comes to isolation and vibration control?

My other rack of interest is Adona. Looking to keep it around $2,000 if possible but we know how budget comes and goes.

If you like the Timbernation racks you should also check out Massif Audio Design racks as well.

Not really sure I understand your concern about vibration and isolation with a solid maple rack that weighs well over a hundred pounds and takes two people to move especially if you are using aftermarket footers under the gear. On mine the top shelf is 2 inch maple with an additional 3 inch maple butcher block for the TT. In between the top shelf and the butcher block are four Herbies Fat Dots though there are other similar devices that will work like these.

The Massif racks look to be a very similar design as the Timbernation but at a higher price.

Hi Jack.....thanks for your response. I only ask because even though the Timbernation racks are massive having mass is only one part when it comes to a rack that can islolation and vibrations.

I guess what I’m really interested in is that the folks who own Timbernation racks are you happy with your choice?

I love mine and with the second butcher block separated from the rack with the Herbie's the TT is rock solid. I use a combination of Iso-Acoustics and EVP devices between the components and the rack. Since I already had the butcher block for the TT I just had the rack built with 2" shelves.

The EVP devices look like they are worth a try. How do they compare with Iso-Acoustics?

Like the Iso-Acoustics devices they seem to be based on sound science and testing and are basically the same price as the Pucks. For little investment worth a try to see what you think. The owner of the company will even reach out to you to get your feedback after the purchase and a reasonable time for usage.

I also have one of these Timbernation Racks, thick maple and solid and heavy which sets on my solid concrete floor.. MY TT sets on top of its 2" solid maple top. I can lay a Seismometer app contained on my iphone, with its sensitivity set to high on my TT and I can JUMP all 250 lbs of me on the floor next to the rack and the needle doesn't move. I call that pretty darn isolated and free of the impact of vibrations.

I have no experience with Timbernation but do have 12-13 years ownership experience with many Adona racks.

Also check out EdenSound's custom-built racks...

There are many other fine contenders
