    Kanso Audio's Latest

    Hey guys,

Just thought I would post some pictures of my latest creation. It's been under research/development for awhile. Finally, where I want it: a combination of performance and aesthetics.

This is called the Tana Turntable Shelf. It is wall mounted, yet it is totally decoupled from the wall.
We wanted to develop a TT shelf that was totally decoupled from both the floor and the wall. Also, the suspended shelves underneath are completed isolated from the main shelf and each other.

The main shelf is high mass for in-room sonic stability (the main shelf weighs about 70 lbs.). In other words, as you crank up the volume, the in-room sonic energy has more effect on a TT; the high mass of the main TT shelf lessens the interaction with those high dB sound waves.
Also, as the SPL's go higher, the walls become more accentuated (this is basic physics). The problem with shelf systems that are hard mounted to the wall is that they transfer all the energy of that wall to the TT.
Because of the unique suspension system, isolation, and high mass of the shelf, we've almost completely eliminated all room/wall interactions. Which of course, means better performance from your Turntable/Arm/Cartridge.
The suspension system also allows for leveling.

All the shelves also incorporate our unique vibration control.

    Hope this all makes sense.

    Pete,

I should have delivered and installed one for him early last year when I was doing so much work up in New Jersey and Long Island. Our timing just didn't work out.
I haven't been up that way in over a year and I can't afford to make an eight hour drive (each way) for one installation, (especially a free install).
We're still trying to work out the details so I can get him a Tana TT shelf for review. We'll get it done someday.

Here is a little blurb he did write: http://www.analogplanet.com/content/...lly-hand-built

    Thanks Pete,

    Aaron
