Not sure I like the look of them much, but I'm sure they'll sound great. The new Trio still has no vertical allignment of its drive units. I'd like to see the top 2 horns vertically aligned with only the mid-bass one offset

i know little bit about TRIOs...

I also know that I have NEVER heard them with the bass horns in the middle that the ME factor wasn't seriously compromised...

You're too modest Jim - you know more about Avantgarde than anyone outside their factory! However I'm not sure you see my point. Trios have the top and bass horns vertically aligned. Convention would suggest that the 2 higher frequency horns should be the better ones to arrange vertically aligned. I have no doubt that the ME factor of Trios (old and new) is excellent, but I wonder if it wouldn't be even better with different positioning of the horns. I suppose one has to assume that AG have experimented with different alignments and have concluded that their 20th century arrangement cannot be improved upon! The Trio is their only model that doesn’t have all drivers vertically aligned and that’s because they physically can’t be with a sensible total height, but choosing which horns to vertically align is something that AG does have control over. A bit more like this sketch may be better, though its width would be more akin to the Trio Classico. Peter

I don’t think Jim was referring to you in your post. If I’m not mistaken, he just doesn’t like positioning the bass horn in the middle as in the pictures.

"ME" factor? Medical Examiner? Mechanical Engineer?

Impressive looking. Like the more rigid structure and the ability to adjust driver for time alignment. Can’t wait to hear it.

Musical Engagement in Jim's vocabulary.

My mind suddenly flashed back to the old Maxell tape ad...
