They are essentially passive Zero's (except for the powered bass driver). So, you can use your favorite 300b SET amp with these new babies and they cost quite a bit less. Pricing is $15,700. 104db efficient. 8 ohm. Available in white or black (shown).

Almost 3 years have passed since then. Various parts were redevelopped, prototypes were built and evaluated in countless hours, and finally... the ZERO XD TA is ready to launch! TA stands for "Teil-Aktiv", the German word for semi-active. Thus in the bass range, a DSP controlled 500 watt Class-D subwoofer amplifier ensures that the ZERO XD TA's performance is truly full-range, with all the richness and power that makes music come alive with realistic scale and weight. And last but not least this rids the connected hifi amplifer from the usual sudorific work in the low end!
In the mids and highs, an elaborate combination of reworked drivers and finely adjusted crossover parameters finally leaveraged a voicing that offers great transparency and tonal neutrality - at a notable efficiency of 104 dB! We are convinced that all of this will make the ZERO XD TA an excellent match with plenty of amplifiers, including low powered tube and solid state designs.
Using the same sophisticated polyurethane cabinet like its fully active sister loudspeaker, the ZERO XD TA proudly features the same iconic design that elevated the ZERO 1 to the most awarded loudspeakers of its class in the industry.

I've heard the Zero at Mike's house ,and it's a very special speaker!

This should really improve it's appeal, allowing people to use their own electronics!!

Interesting. Hope that they managed to achieve a similar time and phase coherency as the active XD.

Wish they would bring back the Uno Fino in XD form though - that was a wonderful speaker in a compact form factor and excellent value.
