My Bryston BDP-2 is currently connected to my DAC via an unbalanced SPDIF digital cable (BNC to RCA type connectors). Is there any advantage to changing to a balanced AES/EBU digital cable (XLR to XLR type connections)?

On my BDP-1 & BDA-1 AES/EBU sounds best to me.....not sure on the 2 series as I haven't brought them in yet, will do though shortly and will compare. I think James favors the AES/EBU.....

I think a lot may depend on the DAC you're using. For example, when I had AMR's DP777 I preferred SPDIF to AES (as did two others I had with me while I was cable shopping). More to consider is the the USB out; if I remember correctly the BDP2 has this no?

I would agree......I haven't spent time with any of my other dacs into the BDP-1 as of yet only the BDA-1

Nope, no USB out on the Bryston BDPs.
