What is the downside of Emotiva XPR-2 600Watts amps per channel?

I have read good reviews on the XPR-2 for Home Theater.
    600/1000 watts per channel.

What are the bad sonic characteristics?
What will I hear different compared to my McIntosh 501's

My speakers are built/take 600 watts, so that is not a problem.
I need an amp for a different 5.1 system at my beach home.

Thanks for any input from those that have heard the XPR amps.
(I know I need to run a new power lline)

Re: What is the downside of Emotiva XPR-2 600Watts amps per channel?

If it means anything, I have an Emotiva UMC200 preamp-processor for my BIG 42" TV with Fostex PM2 active powered speakers.

I have been very happy with it, have had no problems and when I was trying to get a second one for the bedroom, I found they were discontinued for a newer model (probably to handle 4K) that I plan to get as soon as it comes out.

It has tremendous value for the dollar and has worked perfectly for the last year.

The only downside is the lack of bragging rights for what you paid for it!
