    Joe,

Are you sure it'd be a logical step, let alone "up", from your TADs? I mean, those speakers are seriously rolled off, and warm. If anything, they're the extreme opposite of your current speaker!

Do you want to move up, while keeping the same characteristics, or just try something different?

    Ricardo,

It's no surprise that the Viola was better than the McIntosh... C'mon...

Now, the Amati Futura will play beautifully with the 150W of your amps. I used it for a while with both the darTZeel integrated as well as the stereo amp, and they handled it fine, even at loud volumes. So, if you have a chance to get them at a good price, go for it! But keep those Dynaudios, as then you'll be able to see how good they really are (versus a US$ 36k floorstanding speaker).

    Hi Alexandre,

I ABSOLUTELY love my SF Evolutions, especially with my Dartzeel. If I am assuming correctly, the Futura might be a more and better version of my Evos. I have grown to respect my TADs. Do I love them? Sometimes. They do some things extremely well and some things I am not crazy about. I love having the ability to switch around gear/speakers to suit my mood. I don't know if I will ever be satisfied with one speaker.amp/preamp combo. Choice is wonderful. Would the SF Futura be a logical step? Nothing I do related to music turns out to be logical. But, I enjoy the variety.

    Alexandre,

Thanks for your comments, I'd forgotten you had the Amati Futura.

I'm very pleased with the 25th, but since I heard the Amati Futura Brandão's house I feel like having it.

    Re: Viola Audiolabs

    Joe,

I know the feeling. I haven't heard the Guarneri Evolution, but I've heard the previous generation, and it's a very good, smooth speaker. Same for the old Amati. The newer Amati has a lot more punch, and will satisfy more than the chamber/vocal jazz fans, which was Sonus Faber's most likely customer base before.
Since you seem to have a facility to get good gear, I think you owe it to yourself to hear the Raidhos, one of the Rockports, as well as the Magico S1 or S5. You might just get both things you like (the Evo's smoothness and the TAD accuracy) in one package.
Or, of course, you can keep both speakers But unlike electronics, moving speakers around is not so fun

    Renato,

I understand. I was very impressed with the Amati Futura, but I've replaced it for a Dynaudio speaker that costs half its price, and it bested it in every significant way...

I forget. Do you have the Dynaudio Temptation?

I put my TADs back in service. They really are amazing. It does make other speakers sound muted. I plan on hearing Rockport, Raidho, Magico and Vandersteens. I am not sure I can bring myself to sell my TADs even though I do complain sometimes.

I am not fully invested in any one design being the best. I am more looking toward the final result. If I like what I hear, great. If not, I move on. How each speaker sounds compared to what I enjoy is what's important.

Which model Peak Consult speakers do you have. I was looking at the website and they look beautiful.

After 1-2 more post, I will also be able to contribute with a lot of information (photo and links) about Peak Consult, as I have come to know the owner - Per Kristoffersen - very well, and therefore regularly talk with him and also visiting the company.

Curious, which Viola amp do you have?

Argh, my bad... I'm getting senile! You know, you think of something, but write something else!

Yes, I saw the pic! Now where's my $$$ for my uncredit appearance?

Ah, I've replaced the Futura with a Dynaudio C4 (there's now a C4 II). Incredible speakers, but need a lot of power, though. The poor darTZeel suffered, so I went with the Temptation, which was easier on it, but much more expensive.

Joe, I had them for a while. Excellent speakers, but a bit outdated, IMO.

I have a Q3 now, while I wait for my Q7 to arrive...

They're more similar than you'd think. The material on the drivers are very similar.
Rockport uses ports, like 99% of the speakers out there, while Magico uses sealed enclosures. So, the main difference between them is the bass. Rockport = fuller, with lots of overhang. Magico = correct bass, you can hear note for note, no overhang whatsoever.

Well, if you want to be strict about it, then Magicos don't sound like anything else, simply because of their enclosure and sealed design.

The impression I got from Rockport is that they're transparent, like Magicos, but with fuller bass, due to the port design. I assume the transparency is due to the driver choice (similar to Magico), and the full bass is due to the big woofers and a port.

    Friends,

recently I started some tests with Gryphon cables, VIP line. Installed a pair of interconnects between the Esoteric K-03 and AR LS27 preamp, and a pair of speaker cables. My speakers is Dynaudio 25th Special Edition.

I realized that the system was very analytical and transparent. High and medium frequencies according to the volume, even disturbing.

I have this setup two weeks ago, and the cables had one year of use, but were saved there are 5 or 6 months. Does it need more time to settle down cables these high frequencies?

    Someone could help me?

    Have a great week,

    Mike,

This room does not have treatments at the points you mentioned, this is a temporary room, I'm building another house with my final room.

    My current room measures 4.5 m x 5.5 m.

ps.: Complementing ... the wall behind the boxes, has a huge curtain, and also have a mat that will my listening position to the boxes.
