If I buy another Job 225 how would I bi amp them?

The best way is to go with an active x-over but you can use y connectors from pre to amp.

Job emailed me the other day and I guess they were closed until yesterday so it shipped out today. Hopefully get the Job by end of this week!!

Anyway, after going through the thread I decided to spend a little more on a dac/preamp and go with the Eximus DP-1 and go with the oppo103 for the trqnsport.

So it will be Oppo 103 -> Eximus DP-1 -> JOB 225 -> EA MicroOnes.

I just had a question for power cords..

I was gonna get the Shuntaya Venom 3 for all my electronics at Music direct but they listed the Venom 3 HC which I guess are strictly for Amps. When I click on info it says its for Amps that need burst of high current.. its also sold in 15 Amp or 20 Amp. Which one should I get? I know nothing about electric currents etc..

I can either get the HC and get a normal Venom 3 for the DAC/preamp and the Venom 3 Source powercord for the oppo 103..

Or just go with the 3 regular Venom 3 powercords for all 3. (Amp/preamp -dac/ transport).

Which should I get?

I am rather surprised that Goldmund finally decided to offer their technology at such affordable price.
I have long experience with their products, and my equipment is mostly based on their toys.
I didn´t liked too much the change from their Mimesis series circuit to the Job circuit.
The older Job circuit amps were extremely fast and dynamic but i little bit dry and overtight in bass, a little bit "yang" sounding.

i guess that after 5 or 6 Job generations, the Job-Telos circuit is now very improved, safer and more musical.

So i will give Job a new opportunity and i am thinking to purchase one Job225 for my home-theater setup extension.

If I read the JOB website correctly, JOB has existed as a separate entity since 1996 and it would appear they licensed their amp circuit technology to Goldmund (and other companies ?) and have tapped Goldmund to now make an amp under the JOB brand. See text below from the JOB website. But, perhaps, like Hypex/Grimm/Mola-Mola in the Netherlands, their is common/shared ownership between Goldmund and JOB.

May be i am wrong but i think that Job was founded by a group of students/engineers who licensed their Job circuit to Goldmund, but some years later Goldmund (or the Digital Audio Trading group to which Goldmund belongs) bought the Job company. I vaguely remember having read this but not sure.

I got my Job 225 last week and listened for about 20 minutes without a preamp and dac going straight into my direct tv set top box (lol) since I am still looking around for which dac and preamp to use with the Job.

Sound for 20 minutes connected to a dire t tv 5.00 dac? Shocking good.

Sorry phone hiccuped. Anyway, im looking into getting the Chordette QuteHD DAC and just using something like an emotiva passive volume controller until Job comes out with the preamp of their own. I read on another thread that Job might be coming out with one by June so hopefully the emotiva volume controller will get me by until then. I emailed Job this morning and asked them when they will come out with a preamp and still no reply.. maybe its their day off or something.?

Anyway, Job sounding this good connected to a $5.00 dac from direct tv,I cant imagine how good they will sound with the rest of the setup will prabably all come in by first week of May..

Used just a 40 dollar audioquest cables with radioshacks 10 dollar RCA and stock power cord..

Sound was still damn good. Dynamic, with great imaging, analog sound with crisp vocals not to mention tight bass. And its barely the first hour.


Will do a full review once I get rest of my stuff in.

I use a PI Audio Group "Uber Buss" and it works great!

which sometimes chokes the amp.

I have problems with my line, with more RFI/EMI and 227V - 238V (usually 233-235V).

I use Schaffner filter line to attenaute RFI/EMI and I have modified the bias of the AV Marantz SR4500 (Job has bias fixed).

USB Isolator: iFi iUSB vs TeraDak U9VA + Teralink ADuM4160. Filtros Schaffner. Lampizator: AC filter DIY ESA SILK. Estabilizador / regulador de tensión / voltaje. Isolation transformer.

I have fear JOB does not work at 100% (sound) so I have not yet purchased (and after a passive preamplifier, off course). And I want to change my system!!!

What is a "Rowen Swiss Power" Nad. We only have the straight Nad c375BEE here in Australia.

AVA Fet Valve 400R

AVA Synergy 300 and The Job 225

If i lived in USA, FEt Valve 400R will be my election sithout doubt. By I live in Europe (Spain).

What is the burn-in time for job to reach its full potential guys? Also does anybody consider it vailed?

I agree with Joe. Certainly not veiled and I have used it with five different sets of speakers and three different preamps. 100 hours seems about right too.

Where did you get the idea the J is Veiled?

I just hooked up my Itube with an Astron 11A power supply modded for 9v last week and holy smokes. With the Sony Hap-Z1ES going into the Itube, into the Job, and playing the Zellatons, this is the most transparent and musical sound I have had in the last 40 years. Talking about a magical sound! Wow.........

All your comments make me really surprised that nobody have noticed what I have noticed. Job seems to be aiming for tube like sound in a way. It gives nice soft presentation with nice weight and fill to the sources but in this case the price to pay is lowered resolution and softened / rounded sound. I loved the presentation but could not live with lack of resolution and have sold mine after about two months of use and 150h.

Still not sure if I did the right thing but I have figured out that I can achieve similar sound with higher resolution amp by adjusting it with cables while I cannot rise the resolution of job no matter what I do.

Time will tell if I did the right thing.

Anyway I still believe it is a cracker little amp and I would be not surprised If I come back to it one day.

So what else is in your system? The job in my system plays whatever you feed it. Bright dac or speakers, bright sound. Dull dac or speakers, dull sound. My friend Rex is using his with the AMR DP777 and KEF LS 50's, no lack of resolution there or he would have already sold it. Rex and I have owned a ton of tube amps over the years and in no way does the Job sound soft like a tube amp. I hate tube amps, especially with transformers.

It was compared in two systems with same results. If not loss of resolution it would be my perfect amp as I loved almost everything else about it.

What speakers are you using with The Job 225?

It is not about the speakers but about the job. We have compared the job against our reference SS amp from that price range and the lack of resolution was obvious (still job was better in about 70% of other characteristics but not in resolution). It was repeated in other system but with same two amps... also three set of speakers cables and two sets of RCA were used always with same results.

If you really need to know the speakers were Zingali Home Monitors 2.10+ and Quads 63 so quite different type of speakers and loads.

"lack of resolution"? That's a new one! The Job has plenty, which is why others have not commented about any lack of resolution. If resolution appears lacking, then it is most likely from an an upstream component and/or cabling issue. I guess some people like hyper detailed sound so they tend to match digital amps with speakers that have metal dome tweeters, but I don't find that very listenable. So, what was the system that you found the Job to be lacking in resolution?

The Job has a Hifi Tuning Silverstar fuse in it.

Initial thoughts:

• Very black background. Of course I've been listening to tubes for the last year or so, so that could be exaggerated a bit... But it's VERY quite. Even with the passive's volume all the way up and with the 98db/1w/1m Tekton's there is just a teeny teeny bit of noise when I put my ear to the speaker.

• Very fast and accurate and detailed. The pluck of a bass string, acoustic guitar, or drum kit is immediate. Transients and detail are superb. The instruments have texture. You hear the frets, the wood of the stringed instruments, the brass of a sax... The spit of the sax player. It does all this in a completely non-fatiguing way.

• Extremely neutral and easy to listen too. Vocals sound very natural and real. It is very transparent... I know when the recording is bad or good. The Job doesn't sugar-coat anything...

Guys it is not important. I think it is great little amp and I hope I will have a chance to test another unit in the future.

The Quad 63's have a lack of resolution due to the transformers that are used in them. A bright sounding amp will work better, the Job is not bright. My buddy Rex had those for quite a few years and no tube amp but the NYAL Futterman OTL's sounded good on them. The Quads needs a DD OTL tube amp like Roger Modjeski makes to make them sound really, really good.

I did ask Rex about a month ago if he missed his Quad 63's and the NYAL Futtermans over what he owns today. Rex said no way, the sound of the Job and LS50's is what he has looked for all of his life.

Hey that's me! The threads here on AS are what led me to purchase a JOB. I couldn't take it any more reading about it and had to try it for myself. It's a fantastic amp and I won't be selling mine any time soon.
