Re: How would you compare Luxman to Accuphase house sound?
Yes, I corrected my previous post. This is what happens when you just respond on a phone. Noise floor, you can absolutely tell, turn the amp on and put your ear up to the tweeter and midrange, theres your noise floor. Absolutely no one touches accuphase on that and its very important to me

Re: How would you compare Luxman to Accuphase house sound?
My owners' manual for my preamp states that hiss will be audible with your ear close to the speaker with the volume at "0" but as you increase the volume control the hiss does not increase. This is an engineering choice along with the 6H30 tubes. I'm not sure noise floor even matters if it is low enough and stays there.

Re: How would you compare Luxman to Accuphase house sound?
I've never owned an amp that generated any hum or hiss that I could hear. (All solid state). It's hard for me to understand when people talk about lowered noise floor, dead silent, etc.
Just my experience, not trying to argue or say it's not the case for others.
ok, other than my 64 Deluxe Reverb or Marshall 18w....Main System

Re: How would you compare Luxman to Accuphase house sound?
I just paid for a purchase and it will be shipped today. I'm really excited. I'm not going to say anything until the amp is in my possession (due to my poor luck with previous purchase attempt). Like I stated before, I actually placed a down payment on a McIntosh MA8950. However, the morning that I was going to pick it up with a cashier's check in hand, the dealer called and said he made a "mistake" and said it was a customer order that he was not aware. The dealer did offer me a Rotel Michi integrated, however, I declined. It all worked out better, I now have a "dream" integrated on it's way.

Re: How would you compare Luxman to Accuphase house sound?
Same here. I was very happy when I got my hands on an E650. In my opinion it has a pretty unique sound that is very smooth with highly saturated colors and great detail. It's a beautiful piece and I think the fit and finish is a notch above Luxman, though I'm not crazy about the gold color. Ultimately I found the tonal balance slightly tipped up, a tad too much energy in the upper midrange, which is something I'm sensitive to. I've ended up with a Luxman 509x and M800a for my 2 systems. The 509x is oddly both more crisp, clean, extended on the top end, with sharper leading edge, but also very evenly balanced across the spectrum. It just sounds more realistic and nuanced than Accuphase to my ears. I really wanted to love the Accuphase but the Luxman sound does it for me.
