Best sound ever in my house
Hello folks,
I received yesterday a Kondo Ongaku amplifier.
Using it with the Kondo KSL M77 « Ongaku pre » preamp.
Just listened for half an hour this morning.
Best sound I ever had in my house.
The Kondo Overture and GE-1 phono amp went in the living room.
Kondo all over the house.
Color me happy !

Jerome - congrats on a beautiful addition to your Kondo herd!
I have read that the Kondo Ongaku Integrated is much better when used with a preamp. Since you are using it with the KSL-M77 preamp, I take it that you would agree?Studio/Study:

Re: Best sound ever in my house
Jerome, now you need Diesis "Roma Triode", made to pair with Kondo, using all Kondo silver wiring and more. I'm sure you can find some to listen to somewhere in Paris :-)

Re: Best sound ever in my house
Thanks a lot.
I saw a video with these speakers and an Ongaku. Seemed glorious.
A friend in France has its own brand of electronics. Yannick Mahé. The brand name is Tosca. He knows very well Audio Note UK and Kondo because he worked with AN for many years.
He told me that when you go very high with the quality level of the electronics, something strange happen : they seem to imprint their magic, their sound, to almost any speaker, as long as you use compatible speakers.
ie no matter the speakers you use, with the Ongaku, you get the magic, the fullness of the Ongaku.
And that is very true.
I do not recognize my Rega RS10 speakers since I connected the Ongaku. They are completely transformed.
The feeling I get is that I never powered them correctly.
I ordered a pair of Jean Maurer 370F before receiving the Ongaku to use in this room.
But if I had received the Ongaku before, I would have never ordered any other speaker. The nirvana is already here.

Re: Best sound ever in my house
The sound of the Ongaku is almost impossible to describe.
I am truly in an other audio dimension.
It worths every dollar they ask for.
Masterpiece.

Re: Best sound ever in my house
Yes I look forward to bringing Kondo amps into my mix to play with Diesis Roma. There is a pretty big price delta between “Roma” and “Roma Triode” and I’m told “Roma” leaves only a wee little bit on the table. For sure Ongaku and Roma Triode are a dream system. I’m sure someone will pick at some tiny “it doesn't do this” or “too much x, not enough y” as we can do with any system if we forget the goal is connection with the music. When it comes to connection with the music, the artist, the emotion then Kondo/Diesis is an example of the pinnacle, the top of the mountain, the holy grail :-)
But as you say Jerome, a masterpiece amplifier will make your speakers show you what they are really capable of. I had a similar experience when I added Etsuro Gold cartridge and CS Port phono stage. My Alexias never sounded better.

Re: Best sound ever in my house
Funny that you are talking about the Alexia.
I have a friend who has them with a full 1000 Mc system ( C1000 / 1.2K….).
I told him that he could sell all his Mcs and get an Ongaku and it will be Nirvana.
He won’t. Some people need their hifi rack to show something else than music.

Jerome, I'm told by Giuseppe @ Diesis he has no dealer currently in France.
But you were thinking of a trip to Rome, right? (Just in case this were true, I can arrange for you to meet with Giuseppe.)

Re: Best sound ever in my house
Hello Jerome. I have watched your audio journey over many years & have always admired your purist approach of staying true to yourself & what you thought was real presentation in your own space. You have had at times many systems where you could have put the white flag up & pronounced "it's" done. You never did, which makes me think that every now & then you surprise me with feelings of envy. I hope you enjoy your new found nirvana in this day & age of uncertainty. Thanks for sharing

Jerome, where did the Shindo amps go? Kondo's current equipment is top notch, but Shindo's are great too. I don't know what to wish you, because you have everything for the highest enjoyment of music.

Re: Best sound ever in my house
While I may be viewed has having an agenda, since I've worked in the audio business for 41 years, I too am a real music lover, musician, and audio enthusiast. I am currently enjoying the "best sound ever in my house." My sheer enthusiasm for audio at the moment compels me to share what has been providing me with so much joy and excitement. I am currently enjoying the truly amazing Vivid Audio Giya G4s2 speakers driven by a Mola Mola Kula integrated amp loaded with a phono stage (same basic circuit as the new Lupe phone stage) and a DAC stage (the same as the popular Tambaqui DAC). While streaming high quality digital from Qobuz and a NAS the sound is simply the most lifelike, realistic, dynamic and 3-D I've ever had in my own digs! There's simply nothing quite like the joy music can bring a person through an amazing audio system!
