    Aragon is back

I could be the only one who didn't realize this. They only have a set of monoblocks and a stereo amp, called Titanium. I suppose you have to start somewhere. I would have expected a preamp, guessing they wanting to get going and I'm sure generate some income.

Aragon was originally founded in 1984 by Mondial. They had an amp 8008 that was popular. Klipsch bought the company either in 2001 or 2006 depending on source, regardless they closed the brand out. A U.S. company , Indy, bought the brand in 2009.

I heard some of the Aragon gear way back and wasn't so impressed. They also had a more entry line Acurus.

    Re: Aragon is back

Aragon has been back for a long time. I had a 4004 MK2 and thought it was a well built amp and had excellent control on the ribbon MRT on my Apogee Stages. I did not have much to compare it too but it beat the crappy Krell KSA amp that failed electronically and sat forever at Krell warranty repairs.

The Aragon brand was purchased by Indy Audio Sounds about a decade ago. The came out with updated amps soon after that. I don’t think they have been really able to grow their business. The Mondial amps were great amps. I have never listened to any of the Indy Audio versions.

    Re: Aragon is back

I had a 4004 amp with the 24K preamp. A very nice combo with Magnepan at the time.

I did see the new Aragon amps a few years ago but have not heard any of their new gear.

I had 2004 with 24K and their D2A DAC. I Used them with Spica TC-50s for years.

I still use the 2004 for from L & R their 3005 for other channels on HT duty in the living room. The Spica's are stored in my shop. Still an amazing little speaker for $350 a pair new in the 80"s

Aragon 24K the alleged, roomered, D'Agostino design.

You must have heard The 8008 , they were not as good as the last gen 4004 Mk2 , the original mono blocks were the palladium...

This from CES 2013 so Aragon has been back since at least then. Sorry for the double pic but I could not figure out how to delete it. Posting pics has gotten bizarre.

    Re: Aragon is back

I read something about that rumur in a review, the writer said someone else's name was on the circuit board. Fact, or, rumour to boast sales, who knows.

I didn't find pricing on the new amps. Someone told me they saw the monoblocks at $11k, steep competition in that area.

    Re: Aragon is back

Dan marginal involvement was in the 04 power amp not the Pre amp. if you have ever heard a early KSA 100 series amp you will hear how similar a 4004 sounds to one ..

Im not sure about their preamps , very familiar with the amp line never tried any of the preamps ..!

Best i have ever heard apogees is on 4 modified Palladium monoblocs at Mondial, they had a fantastic listening room at the factory .
