Roon DSP

I have. Works as described.
They need to really expand it and add some post production tools we can use: de-esser,

Mike, my current system sounds so darn good I can't bring myself to mess with it. But, I guess I'll never know how the DSP feature works/sounds until I try it. Same with Roon ARC.

I would just leave it.

FWIW, I was reading a thread of Roon users about sound quality and versus other software options, it seems the users agreed the best sound from Roon is bypassing the DSP and all options that effect sound.

I have created convolution filters in REW (using the Harman Target Curve) and run them through ROON. You have to have a ROON core with serious processing power to apply the convolution filters to the higher resolution files, especially DSD. My results have been fantastic.

I love reading about Roon DSP in All Things Analog!

Oh, we have some troublemakers and nonconformists here in this forum! :)

Completely agree. I have also used convolution filters with Roon with excellent results.

Yeah, it just seems like another form of equalization to me. Probably don't need it.

It is not the same as the EQ of yesteryears. It is done using convolution filters that allow you to make adjustments to the speaker/room measurements. You need to measure the speaker/room interaction using specialized software (I used REW) and using those measurements you can develop the convolution filters.

Some vendors can use your measurements and develop the filters for you. Then they let you try it using your own music before you commit.

IME DSP can really make a big, measurable difference to the sound of your speaker/room.
