Re: OpenReelRecords : new titles on the market ...
New music on tapes...this is good news.
Doc B's Tape Project Tapes got my interest level up and started in listening to tapes again since teen years, and Mike L got me going down to the Studer deep end. I held out for #99 TP charter membership but it went to someone more important than me and got #98 for series 1 & 2. I still cherish the collections.
As soon as I can get back into tapes after making some room in the house, I will get some of them Italian tapes!
And a question to the OpenReel team:
Can you elaborate on your duplication setup and process you go through to make the copies?

Re: OpenReelRecords : new titles on the market ...
Myles, I could had earlier number but when talking to Queen, I thought I had enough pull to get the #99 and delayed delivery. The #99 and #100 went to someone else special I was told...
So, I see the Nagra T Audio on OpenReel website. Is it their main production recorder?

Re: OpenReelRecords : new titles on the market ...
Well Ki, we duplicate in a production studio in Milano, Italy. We use a Studer A-812 as source master, that distribute via a Studer 169 mixer to a bank of Studer A-807 as recorder.
We have tested a lot of configuration and the one selected is for us the best to ensure the optimal analogic chain result.
The Studer 169 mixer in the production room is the twin of the one we use on stage to record the sessions; on stage we use microphone Shoeps MTSC 6 MK4, Schoeps BLM 3, Shoeps CMC6 MK 21, Shoeps CMC6 MK 2s and others.
We use two unit micro preamplifier MILLENNIA Media HV3D that via Studer 169 and a Telcom C4 unit go to a Nagra T.
We use RMG SM 900 tapes with reference flux of 320 nWb, with CCIR equalization.
while having a wide selection of microphones , about thirty , we use minimal recordings setup in amazing acoustic environments. The signal in this way will not be changed by artificial compressor or reverb unit.

Re: OpenReelRecords : new titles on the market ...
Just received a copy of the Vivaldi for review and must say the packaging quality blows my mind! Leave it to those Italians. As good as the Tape Project, Hemiola and Lutz Precision are, Open Reel Records brings packaging to a new level. This is a tape that says pride of ownership.

Re: OpenReelRecords : new titles on the market ...
While sales of the first titles are going very well, we are preparing the new release of May, the debut on tape of a splendid Italian voice that offer a tribute to American folk music .
Erica says “... this album is an homage to american music, the music I’ve been loving and singing for the past 15 year. The music that has made me the artist I’m, the person I’m. Recording it live has been an exciting, incredible experience ! It gives the album a special something I particularly love because it sounds fresh and authentic like the simple and genuine spirits from which this music origined ...”

They challenged me when I said maple would racks have their own sound vs higher end vibration racks (you can hear this with your own ears and high end rack manufacturers also talk about this issue),...
Huh?
