I would suggest the Lumin X1. With the Lumin you rip your CDs, and can stream the online music. Also, with the Lumin you don't need a DAC, DAC interconnect cable, and DAC power cord. That will save you at least $10K, and maybe more.

Quite a debut for Esoteric. To my eye it has a similar design ethos to the Acoustic Signature Montano Neo.

There are only so many audio brands that the market can handle. Onkyo has died a death much like Akai (for consumer audio--their name is still big in the electronic music samplers, etc), Fisher Sansui, etc. More will die as newer companies continue...

For those familair with Gryphon Antileon and Mephisto, the Apex sounds even more like a Mephisto - even more dynamic, more resolution etc. Not a romantic sounding amp by any means. A friend of mine had one at home with the new preamp.
