Trying to make a great sounding room that doesn’t look like a recording studio — it was my goal when we remodeled the “man cave” a few years back.

Re: Why “Listening Rooms” are the next big thing in interiors
I wouldn't like a dedicated listening room.
I like my setup to be in the public space, I don't want to detach myself from the rest.

And what never gets mentioned… how to hide the cabling? For aesthetics, a nice integrated makes a lot of sense.

Re: Why “Listening Rooms” are the next big thing in interiors
We're contemplating building a mother-in-law suite at the other end of the yard. If we do it, I'll build a dedicated listening room in between that and the main house, it wouldn't add a ton to the project. Would be SO nice to be able to close the door and not have the noise of the house intruding.
Bob yes cabling is the bane of the hobby's aesthetics!Lumin X1 | Enleum 23r | Scansonic MB3.5 B

I will be building a home. Can those of you who wish post photos of your listening rooms/areas? Or do you have any links to articles or photos?

Re: Why “Listening Rooms” are the next big thing in interiors
Very well done. Beautiful room!
If you ever wanted to make this a multi-use room (while keeping the nice looks) you could add a drop-down screen that would come down from the ceiling between the two speakers, and put a ceiling-mount projector in back of the room.
You would have the exact same look when the screen is up. But you would be also be able to (say) watch a live performance of the Berlin Philharmonic while listening with the same speakers.

Re: Why “Listening Rooms” are the next big thing in interiors
That was considered, and there is an outlet in the ceiling to power the screen. Back of room… would require some attractive conduit on the ceiling since there is a layer of mass loaded vinyl between the sheetrock and joists, which means no running cabling in the joist bay. I pity whomever decides to make a change to the ceiling, the whole thing will need to come down.
