Vicoustics have arrived!
Received a pallet of acoustical panels from Vicoustics this Friday. After unwrapping them, they are MUCH better looking than my current panels. Simply said, they are uniform.
The current plan is to alternate the Flexi-Wood and Cinema Round in 2x4 patterns and place the Omega-Wood behind the speakers. I thought of criss-crossing but it, at least in my mind, seemed too busy. Let me know if any of you "decorators" and/or "designers" have any suggestions. Since I'm glueing them to the walls, I'm trying to think this trough as much as possible. You can see how my existing panels are placed (at least on the one wall).
Special thanks to Jeff W. for getting these out to me so soon...placed my order late Monday.

Re: Vicoustics have arrived!
Nice.
I don't think you'll be disappointed with them cosmetically. I'll comment on their acoustics after I've placed them. My room was way too "lively" before I treated it but I think I underestimated the importance of proper diffusion; hence the move to Vicoustics.Michael

Congrats Michael!!
You'll be in for a treat once you have them all up, it made a big difference in my room from my old panels..Dewey,

Re: Vicoustics have arrived!
Michael,
I'm going to go Vicoustics (and ASC TT) as well. Vicoustics has a decent gallery of photos showing different configurations you can also try.
I'm looking at a configuration of diffusion sandwiched between two layers of absorption. Something like these that I found on their site:
I think the spaced columns of treatments looks better than the layout where they are all butted against one another. However, the latter does mean you are more likely to hit your 1st and 2nd reflection points should you change/move your speaker locations.
Lots more ideas in their gallery that you can find here.
Interested in what configuration you ultimately choose so please keep us posted!

Re: Vicoustics have arrived!
Ah nice reminder of all those different set-ups. I have seen them in the past but forgot about that page on their website. Will definitely look at them again. Thanks.
I also agree about the columns looking better but I'm trying to future-proof my room for speaker upgrade(s) so the shotgun approach seemed easiest. I'll think things over again. I do like the look of stacking them 4' x 6' high.Michael

If I could find a house that I knew I wasn't going to move from in the next 10 years Vicoustic would be my go to for the walls.

Here they are in final configuration.

I wanted to do something more creative but it would've required more panels and my brain started hurting.
After two days of listening, I can honestly say my room was over damped. Imaging is a touch better and notes hang in the air just a split second longer. Diffusion has helped breath a bit of life into everything. I am happy as a clam.Michael

Re: Vicoustics have arrived!
Mike - they look terrific. Glad you have heard such a nice improvement. I think the speaker/room interaction synergy is so important.

Re: Vicoustics have arrived!
+1! Glad they made an immediate improvement already.
Michael, do you feel you are done or more tweaking forthcoming? And curious, what made you choose the squared panels vs. say, Wave Wood or any other Vicoustics product. They have so many, each with different effects and looks.
Thanks
Allen

Re: Vicoustics have arrived!
Thanks. No doubt Mike, the room plays a big role.
Thanks Dewey.
I chose the Flexi-Wood (squares) based mostly on aesthetics. The spec sheets show that they don't damp as much as the Wave Wood and since I was planning on using more total panels I thought it made sense. After examining the panels, I think they are all cored by the same foam and the only differences are the covers which change the absorption/diffusion properties (I could be wrong).
As for future tweaking, I may swap out my bass traps at some point for better looking ones. If you mean gear, I've been entertaining speaker auditions lately...I'm in trouble.Michael

Re: Vicoustics have arrived!
I am also a fan of Vicoustic products using wavewoods and 2D diffusors at different locations in my room. Great value for money.

Re: Vicoustics have arrived!
Very nice Kiwi,
I am entertaining the Raidho speakers but I do not have the side walls symmetrical like your layout. My right speaker has another 8-9 feet before it sees a side wall. My room is L-shaped and now my speakers fire into the main area.Fleetwood Deville by Oswald Mills Audio, Vienna Acoustics Haydn Jubilee, Wharfedale Linton w/ stands, Klipsch RB-75, Klipsch RP-160M.
