There are so many great alternatives, I don't know why you would go down the Accuphase route.
Well, Ive owned alot of very expensive gear over the last 15 years, everything has its compromises and traits. I now have a full Accuphase system comprised of 4 pieces. This system can compete with anything out there.
Can you find something that you will prefer? sure. Will it objectively be any better? No... it certainly wont be finished any better.

I've only owned one Accuphase item - a Class A power amp, but it was probably the best looking and flexible amp I've had. It sounded very good but (possibly as it's Class A) is a little soft sounding. I prefer a little more bite, so in the end I sold it. However it was the last to be sold of many amps I bought to see which I thought best for me, and I sold it more reluctantly than any of the others. Great stuff.
The US distributor is jacking up the price for the US. Luxman used to be liked this until they brought US distribution in-house. Always considered demoing Accuphase but the price delta between the US and Japan is laughable.
Mike said it best, seems that the price increase should be right out of a comedy skit to see customer reactions. There is already so much margin no matter what the rising costs are.
