Thread: Accuphase E-800

    Re: Accuphase E-800

No I don't . Then again, Bought mine in Canada, where the list price is actually less than the US list. Given the difference in currencies, it would appear that the US market will accept the pricing, but to me it is not sensible. They are an excellent product....but price does matter to many of us.

    Re: Accuphase E-800

True, but in Canada, I was quoted $17000 Canadian, taxes and shipping included.....still a bargain compared what the US is charging , given the currency exchange.

    Re: Accuphase E-800

Earlier in this thread, I was taking a defensive posture in favor of Accuphase, with regard to some negative comments about the E-800. I caught myself midstream, and began to muse why I was doing this, and what real experience did I have with other brands? Based on my system setup and sound preferences, I purchased a Gryphon Essence amp to put between my Mola Mola Tambaqui and older Focal Utopia L&R speakers. I'm very pleased. I'm experiencing a denser midrange, better imaging depth, tighter bass, and smoother highs. The palpability and timbre of the midrange are especially remarkable with the Essence. I had an Accuphase E550, so we are comparing an older $10K integrated with a new $20K amp, so likely not a fair comparison. I could probably lug in an E800 to compare, but that represents a lot of time and lugging of heavy pieces.
In the end though, I wonder if there is some valid comparision of voicing here, with the Accuphase having a more distant, gossamer sound, and the Gryphon having a more palpable, saturated midrange. If so, I can understand others' critique of Accuphase. Having the E-650 in the mix would have been better. On the Boulder 866 thread, some folks have noted a close competition with the E-650, which speaks favorably for Accuphase.

    Re: Accuphase E-800

I'm extremely happy with my E-800.
Before I got the E-800 I had an E-308 driving my system.
And all in all soundwise. It's not even close to a fair comparison.
My 308 sounded thin by comparison. Where I actually bought a pair of subs to supplement my bottom end with my 308 it's not needed with the 800.
It's just more. More oomph. More bottom end. Better highs. Yea it may not be the perfect system for playing Tool. But honestly. I don't care.
The amp delivers in all other aspects. I am so glad I upgraded to an 800 instead of a 480 or 650.
Big Boi is here to stay. All I can do now systemwise in my book is a little cable tuning.
But as of now my system makes me more than a little content with status quo.

Good point. But I risk and buy two E800's from Audiocubes for the price of one unit from local US dealer.

Not true. AudioCubes price on the E800 is not even 1000 less than what you can get it for here in the states. E800 in Canada can be had for less than 12K. I bought my E800 here in the USA for 12,500. You cant go by MSRP which is a total joke

You bought E800 for $12,500 here in US in your dreams most likely. Wake up and perhaps add it to your signature list cause it's still not there. You won't fool me.

Numerous people here bought one for that amount. JAY's Audio Lab, GREGINNH We all got rid of it in a short period of time. Whats the motivation to lie?? I sold mine on Audiogon for 13K I think. Not sure what Jay or Greg sold theirs for. Matter of fact the Seller that Greg and I bought them from is located in Florida . Maybe instead of accusing people of lying you should do some homework. Your not going to find much help on any forum if you call everybody a liar.

Suavek - obviously, you don't know what you are talking about. I purchased my E-800 new from a US dealer for $15,000 (and I overpaid) as the same dealer was blasting them out for much less a few months later. Due to the insane mark-up the US distributor has, obtaining an E-800 for around $12,500 is definitely a possibility and I know for a fact that Billion$Baby has the connections to get that kind of pricing for Accuphase. BTW, I sold mine for $12,000.

First of all let let me remind you, that it is you who replied "Not true" to my original post, so it is you who have no respect and is lacking integrity. You don't even own neither recently purchased anything from Accuphase so do not tell me what I say is true or not. Your attitude and long signature list and it's content tells me also that your ego is way over the top of any scale known to decent hobby enthusiasts. So step out from your bubble and start acting humbly or simply ignore me.

Your statement was INCORRECT. I laid down the facts and set you straight. Thats not being disrespectful. If I wanted Accuphase today I could get the same deal as before (Unless there was a subsequent price increase by the manufacturer). What does my list of gear have to do with anything? Pretty sure after reading your comments others here arent going to go out of their way to help you. For somebody who just joined this page your REALLY getting off on the wrong foot. It wont be just me ignoring you.

Yup! I was offered one in Canada when I was contemplating my initial purchase. $17,000 CDN all in (including GST and provincial sales tax). So that is approx $13,500 US!

Putting THAT persons info on this page in particular would probably result in a permanent ban with no hope for parole.

Just a FYI here, Accuphase has changed distributor in Canada in late 2020...

Had the same offer from probably the same Montreal dealer. BTW they no longer sell Accuphase, according to what's available on their web site.

Accuphase E800 MSRP went up and currently it is $25,000. Best price I could get from authorized distributor here in US was $18,000 delivered.

I was told by my Canadian Accuphase dealer that the margin for Accuphase in Canada is low. Lower than other European brands such as Gryphon, ANUK etc. With the new distributor and dealer network, I don't think you can get the E800 all in for 17K any longer. I got mine for quite a bit higher.

    Hello,
E650 and E800 have both a high efficiency transformer. I could not find something more accurate. Someone can help?
For example, the Luxman l590ax2 has a 615VA transformer.

I live on the other side of the world, my E-800 arrived intact, and it was transported by ship, I believe that both the inner box and the outer box are of excellent quality!
    I love my Accuphase setup!

Tannoy speakers match perfectly with Accuphase. What kind of music are you listening to ?

I would say that 60% of the time I listen to Jazz, 30% classical music and 5% different styles!

When I read different thread about Highend Tannoy speakers, they match so well with Jazz, some prefer Magnepan for classical, and Klipsch for rock. It is difficult to have several different speakers in the same room, even house.
So Nascimento, congratulations for your nice system.

Several speakers only necessary with compromised designs , a well designed loudspeaker will allow only the recording to dictate ....

Thank you very much! I recognize that it's not the best loudspeaker to play rock and roll, but I hear so little that it doesn't bother me!
