Re: KT150 amps
Dizzie - this is what I'm hearing from other users of KT150 amps too. Joe for example said the KT150's in his Jolida are bang on bias.
Makes me wonder what the facts are. Was there just a bad batch somewhere?
But again, why aren't we seeing more KT150 amps? My GUESS is that manufacturers are very cautious when dealing with a "sole source"....or with tubes, is that "soul source"My Systems: http://www.audioshark.org/showthread...481#post158481

Re: KT150 amps
I noticed Mike mentioned the Rogers 200. I have one and love it.Self biasing. I think it's the best sounding all around amp I've yet to own. Built in the U.S.A. with a lifetime warranty. Roger is a great guy. I spoke with him recently, and he mentioned a minor upgrade on the amp in the last few months. He did the upgrade free of charge. That's great customer service….

Re: KT150 amps
Sonically how would a 6c33c tube stack up against kt150 in a similarly well designed circuit ?
Secondly why aren't there more SET amps based on kt120 and kt150 ? It should be able to provide healthy power while keeping the musical qualities of single ended amps.

My Quicksilver Silver 88's with KT150's hold their bias extremely well and their 90 watts drive most any speakers with grip and authority.

Dan, thank-you, they sound effortless & deliver with such ease it would be forgivable if you were to mistakenly think that they are a ss. They take everything in their stride from delicate passage to very complicated pieces as if it were trivial. I think I just convinced myself to keep them for another 2 years

Re: KT150 amps
I would be keen to see a subjective ranking of which KT150 based amps really sound good and which ones to avoid ?
I am keen to upgrade from my ARC Ref110 to a ARC Ref150se but is there anything better than the Ref150se at the same price ?
Any advice & comments will be welcome !

Re: KT150 amps
There's a YS-Audio company in Hong Kong that makes KT150 amps. The boss is well respected in local community and has decades of experience making tube amps. Each product is build to order. I believe it is not known outside Hong Kong and Taiwan.
(Edit: I read that the amps are tested with Wilson Audio Sophia 2 speakers.)
Top-of-the-line model is listed first:

Re: KT150 amps
An interesting thread. I believe that the Quicksilver Mono 120's are optimised for KT150's and I'm told they are a significant step up from the previous Silver 88's with KT150's, although I have not heard them. I'd be interested to know if anyone on this forum has heard them and what their impressions were.

Here's the Trafomatic NEO+. Was told that the price is $6600 USD if you order direct, plus about $300 shipping to the US. No idea if customs would be an issue... anybody?

Re: KT150 amps
The new CJ ART 300 mono's look nice. 300w/ch on only 4 KT150's. That's running the tubes pretty hard. From what I have read, the quality of KT150's can be quite variable, so I would recommend getting some good back-up tubes from a reputable source. Don't go looking for a bargain with this tube. Pay a little more and get good quality and tubes that test well.

Re: KT150 amps
I was a bit worried as the Monos were my first "big-tube" amsp.. all those KT-120s. Fortunately it wasn't bad. I had two failures early on, but not a one since. (3 years) I'm "ASSuming" the KT150s will be similar reliability-wise. and half the tube count can't hurt either.
