Lumin M1 Review
LUMIN M1 REVIEW
High Fidelity Magazine have published their review of LUMIN M1.
Following in the footsteps of LUMIN S1 an A1, LUMIN M1 is awarded their Red Fingerprint.
During the review Wojciech Pacuła states:
"this is probably one of the best ways to combine convenience and sound, achievable for the money."
"The player has a surprisingly high factor of "surprise", especially naturalness."
"It plays on emotions, engaging with the world before us."
"I highly recommend it. Red Fingerprint."

I love their other products. I haven't heard the M1 but as reviews are starting to surface, looks like a great piece.

Another review from 6moons, with a Blue Moon award:
http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews2/lumin3/1.html
Joël Chevassus, the reviewer, was one of the first to review the Lumin A1 and subsequently the S1, which he owns, so he would have a good handle on the Lumin sound. Looks like another home run from them, with comments such as "I could very honestly live forever happily with the Lumin M1 and my Vivid Giya G1." It appears though that "All DSD and PCM files, including quad and double DSD, are resampled to arrive at such 24-bit/176.4kHz resolution."

Lumin M1 Review
Another review here: https://translate.google.co.uk/trans...gu5I&sandbox=1
Just for clarification purposes, the Lumin M1 is $2200 MSRP in the U.S. If you buy direct from HK, you have to pay import duties and there is no dealer support. Lumin recommends you buy from a U.S. Dealer. They are only offering direct for people who live in countries where there is no Lumin representation. My Systems: http://www.audioshark.org/showthread...481#post158481

Noticed something after reading this Korean demonstration of Lumin M1:
https://translate.google.com/transla...%26wr_id%3D208
- This demonstration uses Vivid Audio Giya G4
- The 6moons review uses Vivid Audio Giya G1
- Lumin Music office uses Vivid Audio Giya G2
I wish I had a pair of any of these at home!

Re: Lumin M1 Review
Interesting observation.
Wojciech Pacula from HighFidelity.pl used the Harbeth M40.1 in his review. So, fortunately, you won't need esoteric speakers to do the amp justice.
Any idea what Lumin use as their reference amps? Would be keen to know what the M1 was benchmarked against.
Had a look at the M1 today. Well put together except for the volume control and power button - appears to be some sort of frosted finish/paint?

Thanks. Given the very positive reception to the M1, I wonder if there will be other (higher end and milled from solid aluminium block?) models in the range...

Re: Lumin M1 Review
Mine is still breaking in, but is already producing very fine audio. This is a no-brainer piece of gear at this price point. I think it can outshine equipment at twice the price. And the Lumin interface is a pure joy. I thought it may be a bit bass shy, but that too is coming around nicely. I have this integrated powering a pair of 3-way Talon Firebird speakers, with no problems whatsoever !! This little gem is going to be a winner. THANKS MIKE.

Re: Lumin M1 Review
I have one right now and I must say it does indeed have a nice subtlety and emotional content, while staying clean, for the price. It reminds me of the NAD systems of my youth -- just engaging, inviting to music listening. I'm not sure I would call it high-fidelity, but a wonderful machine for the price.
Then again, I could only use it via AirPlay so far as I don't have an iOS device and the new Android app I downloaded keeps crashing upon starting.Manufacturer of

Re: Lumin M1 Review
Thank you. It is better than AirPlay. And the machine is getting better by the hour. Now I'm wondering what are appropriate speakers to pair it with.

Re: Lumin M1 Review
I found this from Stereophile:
The figure above shows that the speaker rated at nominal 8 ohm measures down to roughly 4 ohm (3.2 ohm from web site), which M1 is capable of (100W @ 4ohm, 60W @ 8ohm). The LS50 requires a 25W-100W amplifier. In terms of figures only I guess they match.Peter Lie

No, not directly supported. However, for 2 channel setup you don't need line level subwoofer output if you use a high level input such as the one found in REL subwoofer (that I use). That's the optimal input for REL subwoofer anyway.
