Re: Sennheiser's $55,000 Orpheus Headphones
I really can't even comprehend spending that kind of money on a headphone setup, I could buy a Corvette for that kind of money! And I'm sure the car would have much better resale value.

Chris,
Everytime I see tours of houses like this, or ones for sale, they never seem to even have a stereo in them. But yeah, there is a budget for everyone.-----------------

Re: Sennheiser's $55,000 Orpheus Headphones
So true. I asked my neighbor across the street on this who sells home between $700k up to $10 million. They have found that removing items that are non essentials like stereo equipment, sports equipment, kids stuff, personal pictures allow the potential buyers to better envision their items in the house, they want the home staged clean (without clutter). Not to mention homes that are selling in the millions usually are staged by the Realtor using a professional interior designer. The seller in most cases ( with that kind of money) has already located into their new home.

Re: Sennheiser's $55,000 Orpheus Headphones
When the top 1% have as much money as 50% of the rest of us, it is not hard to imagine this headphone to sell.

I have a Realtor friend who also has a Staging business. But even when they do tours of Stars Houses, again no audio is seen or rarely.

Of course the house that is in the picture has it's own nightclub underground along with a bowling alley and gocart track.
It also has an 18 seat Imax theater.Jock

Re: Sennheiser's $55,000 Orpheus Headphones
Absolutely beautiful craftsmanship. This a sculptural embodiment of technical innovation past and present that promises a place of relevance in the future. Art is never over the top. It is just a matter of taste. Affordability, if you want to own it for a time. Art and technology progressively go hand-in-hand. Technological form and precision is art.
This is world class art. It is a technical embodiment. For what it is, it represents the best of today and will always be beautiful.
The New Orpheus are by application only. Count yourself lucky if you are sold a set from the first 250 annual production run. For the collector, they will certainly appreciate.
You don't have to be wealthy to own these. You just have to appreciate it as art that performs.
