Chair Or Other Listening Seat Recommendations?

Anyone have a favorite listening seat/chair/loveseat, etc. recommendation?

I've gone through a ton of listening spot seats. I currently have a $5K massage chair in my room, but have had overstuffed chairs from Restoration Hardware, a dual-reclining loveseat, a regular loveseat, and a couple of others. I've changed out listening spots more than my gear and that's a lot! So what's your favorite spot to park your self for a couple of hours and relax to music or a movie in your listening/screening room?

It's time for another change for me and I thought I'd see what everyone else likes.

    +1 on Stressless!
Just make sure you get one with a low headrest. You don't want a tall one as it will provide a reflective surface right behind your ears.

Bad back here, so am using a Steelcase ergonomic chair. More comfortable than the name suggests.

Herman Miller Eames aluminum group executive chair. I have a padded fabric version and an unpadded leather model. I have been sitting in one of these off and on for 20 years.

The Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman is difficult to beat. I opted for a leather couch in my sound room for greater seating capacity but if I were shopping for a single seat, the Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman would be at the top of my list.

The Stressless chairs are very good. One of their strong points is that they are available in different sizes, so you can get it to fit your body as well as possible. I tried several and found it makes a big difference.

The Stressless chairs look interesting. I looked around and it appears to be a special order kind of thing. The dealers in my area don't carry any of the models for you to even sit in prior to picking a leather and hardware color along with the model of chair. So what model is everyone using? The Crown and Nordic models look nice but I know absolutely sh$@ about these chairs. There sure are a lot to choose from. I'm surprised I never heard of them before. Definitely on my short list though.

Carlo.......You selected a very fine recliner. This Cassina Recliner would be a serious contender for the sound room.

Re: Chair Or Other Listening Seat Recommendations?

Currently, I am using a Scandinavian recliner I bought in 98. After a few years I put it aside, and haven't used it until recently. Before this I was using a Lazy-Boy recliner, Hermen Miller office chair, and an Office Max Executive chair. While all three served their purpose, I am now really enjoying revisiting this recliner.

Who knows what will be swapped in next month?

Stress less, Eames and 3/4 recliners are my preferences. Currently satisfied with the latter. Trialed a serious massage chair...Big mistake, sent it back.

Wow !!! Since I don't have the budget for the Cassina I'm very happy with my IKEA Poang (with top 7" of backrest removed)

More $ to spend on music and affordable tweeks !

Very nice indeed. the louvered vertical wood panels on the side of the room are nice and appear to have an acoustical property -- diffusers? If if not, they still look cool.

I was reading this thread and want to replace my 18 year old Ralph Lauren club chair. Found this k10 for a fair price in Long Island (I live in Portland). It is cash and carry. Any ideas on how I can pay a service to pick it up and ship to me? It would match my Maggie 20.7 in white cloth and silver trim.

My Ekornes Stressless Reno is really comfortable. I know of someone who found it too comfortable and fears to fell asleep while listening.

Well, that didn't take long. In the week I used this chair I pulled a muscle at the bottom of my lowest left rib, and my lower back was killing me until I switched. I went back to my Office Depot Executive chair, and my body is getting back to normal. I knew there was a good reason why I stopped using this leather recliner.

I have two of these, in dark brown. Love that they recline and swivel.

Anyone who is over 6 foot height I would recommend a custom made chair. They are made to your size and usually bought by the elderly. My chair is 16 years old and just came back from having the arms recovered and the latest base mechanism fitted.

I suspect you are correct. I am 6'3", and have to have a footstool at the end of a LazyBoy recliner foot rest. The freaking leather recliner was just uncomfortable.

Well, I'm also 6'3" (and bulky), and I've had no problems with the e-Kornes/Stressless. They actually have 2 or 3 different sizes, depending on the model, so you can order yours Large, like I did

The nice thing with the Reno/Vegas is that you can adjust the height of the headrest - great for audiophiles who want to keep their ears just above headrest level to listen to back wall reflections!

Chairs are like high-end equipment - you have to live with them for sometime before you know if you like them. Sometimes they seem very comfortable for a short time, but become problematic after a few days or weeks. And everyone has its own body morphology and needs.

Is it true the Wilson guys just pile large amounts of hundred dollar bills on the floor and sit in them.

Just an update. I'm loving the Ekornes/Stressless Vegas Chair. It's very nice. Not too much cushion, nice foot rest, and the laptop table is pretty cool. For a guy who's coming off from back surgery they're great chairs. Thank you so much for the recommendation(s) everyone!

I just took a minute and snapped a photo and uploaded it in case anyone is interested in what they look like.

Another big bump for the Ekornes/Stressless. Worth the cost of admittance for sure!

I'm not sure what model mine is, but I wish I had that laptop tray like Bryan pictures above... that looks pretty convenient!

You know their must be a market for 50k to 100k chair for hi end maybe a 18 inch woofer you sit right down into. Built in universal remote built into the arm. You know with a star trek look. Self pouring drink holder.
Neck brace to hold your head in the sweet spot. Tilts up and forward when the record ends . Foot massage that is timed to the music. An option would be a pair of meters to tell the tilt and recline angles for the McIntosh guys . A spin cycle for the Hammond organ lovers . They could come embroidered with your favourite gears name.

Would like one of these. No one in Portland has one in stock.
