Wow, that looks awesome. I am still loving those speakers and hope to hear a pair some day soon.

    Re: Rix Rax Meets Diapason

Thanks, guys. I really could not be more happy with what Rick Cox at Rix Rax...A Stand For the Ultimate in Audio created for me. He took a look at the Diapasons and built his stealth model rack to complement the look. I'm sure that there is an audible enhancement to the overall sound as well. (The soundstage is wider and the base a little firmer.) I'm hoping to save up the scratch to place an AMG Viella turntable on top sooner or later.

Mr. Cox certainly did a great job in capturing and transposing the design spirit of your Diapasons. They look wonderful. Congratulations!

I recently acquired a rix rax sonata. Is there anyone out there that might have instructions, advertising fliers or ?? for rix rax?
    Thanks

I have three rix rax and love them all (one main stand and two double tier amp stands). Not high tech, but you could either dance on them or run a great stereo system on them - take your choice. I just love mine and will be doing a new room next year, so rick will be involved.

    Re: Rix Rax Meets Diapason

HoundDog- Might you have the original paperwork for the rix rax audio stand? I also have two flat pieces that are super heavy and have no legs, or attachments. I believe the original owner had more than one audio stand and used these on the floor under the stand for insignificant but important items. My stand is the sonata version and has beautiful maple wood with an inlay of rosewood on the front edge. While trying to find information, I was told that Rick passed away and they are no longer being made. Do you know if that's true? I know the links for the company website do not work. Thanks for any information you might have. Thinking about getting different speakers to pair with my Marantz 2330B, any suggestions?

I think you have a plinth (the flat thing with no legs), which I also have. It’s designed to sit on the floor and just provide more space under the rack. I put my server on it. I’ll post photos this afternoon, but don’t have the original paperwork.

I had not heard that rick died and, of course, hope that’s not the case. If so, that will change my plans for my new room. Best wishes to rick and his family if he has passed.

    Re: Rix Rax Meets Diapason

here are photos of my rix rax, which I love. They were easy to set up as I recall. Mine were pre-assembled basically. If I recall, I just poured sand in the supports and then screwed in the feet (or vice versa).

Not high tech, but just awesome in my book (and a huge upgrade in sound quality compared to the other system I used). I paid retail for them though, so you did well. I'll be super disappointed if I can't complete my new room with his racks.

Apologies for formatting and appreciate whatever the admins can do. I find photos hard to work with on this site (likely user error, big time).

    Re: Rix Rax Meets Diapason

you can barely see the plinth sitting below the rack, on which I have sitting a black computer server (not optimal). I think it's intended for turntable tools and such - it just sits directly on the floor.

I did a google search for Rix Rax and found several images online, etc., if those are of any help.

The last email I have for Rick was rickcox2010@gmail.com.

Good luck. Let us know how it turns out.

Hounddog- Racks look great. My rix rax has straight tubes on corners and not the angled ones. Other than the one I bought, I have never seen these before. They are built very sturdy which is what I needed for my 72 lb. receiver! I see there have been some for sale in Canada for a huge price. Yes, I think you are correct about the plinths. My husband has insisted on putting my speakers on them but doesn't that change the sound? I thought speakers were supposed to be elevated off the floor. Are the plinths expensive too? The guy threw the two of them in with the rack saying he did not know what they were. I also think I need better speakers as mine are Sansui sp-1700. I have four but only using two for now. I am waiting on the little discs to ship that go under the cones. Thanks for any info as I have just recently spent the money to fix my receiver.

Speakers should not be on the plinth, for all kinds of reasons, but they need to be properly separated from the floor. The plinth is really just a fancy shelf to sit on the floor - it is meant for various sundry, but not meant for speakers. Try sitting the speakers on the floor using their existing spikes/feet and then start exploring other options to isolate them from the floor - they'll pick up vibrations from the floor and vice versa, none of which is a good thing.

As to better speakers, etc, et al, this is the place to learn all of that stuff. Literally, the sky (or the ozone layer) is the limit. If you keep on getting good deals like you got on the rack though, you'll do well. Somehow, I never get those.

    Re: Rix Rax Meets Diapason

Thanks for the info. I will try to convince my husband to take the speakers off the plinths. My speakers are original and in a wooden housing with no feet and no spikes. I will look into some kind of speaker stands for them. Thanks for the help!

    Re: Rix Rax Meets Diapason

Maybe someone can help me. I have a Rix Rax system shelf and I need the little discs that go under the cones. These are 18mm x 2mm stainless, I can only seem to find the 1" size. Anyone have any ideas or work arounds?
