JL F113 Sub tear repair question
My JL F113 has a tear in the surround rubber from use. (Few inch slice)
Is there a glue that can fix it or do I need to bring it in somewhere to be fixed.
Which is does not excite me because of the weight.
Thanks for any suggestions.2 Channel: Sonus Faber Elipsa's, JL sub, McIntosh 501 amps, McIntosh tuner, pre-amp, CD player, Wire World. Pro-ject TT.

Re: JL F113 Sub tear repair question
Have you tried calling JL Audio to get their thoughts? My guess is it will need to be replaced. Can't see a repair working well.

Re: JL F113 Sub tear repair question
Yes, I am waiting for JL's response. I was hoping for a miracle glue/silicone to seal the slice.

Re: JL F113 Sub tear repair question
This will be phone call week Paul.
I have 4 JL subs and have had problems with repair on one that would not turn off from brand new. I received a 45 minute sermon/lecture/his long credentials on how this was normal and how smart the Support guy was, when my other 3 JL subs worked fine and everyone I know who owned JL's worked fine (A lot on the net.).
PS. He tried to sell me a sub but I went through my local vendor, much cheaper, which aggravated him. Which I believe has led to little support help.
On the flip side.
Carl Kennedy was great with advice and all round set up help!
Not sure if he still even works there.
Are the last 2 numbers on the serial #, the year manufactored?
Thanks!2 Channel: Sonus Faber Elipsa's, JL sub, McIntosh 501 amps, McIntosh tuner, pre-amp, CD player, Wire World. Pro-ject TT.

Re: JL F113 Sub tear repair question
So what is the outcome to be? Do you need to replace it or are they moulding it?

Re: JL F113 Sub tear repair question
The JL 113 is back. Very quick turnaround. I have been saving a garage full of audio boxes for over a decade, waitting to use one.
Now it's time for the set up integration into my HT system. Not an hour of enjoyment as I have to reread setup procedures for the system.
PS
Going with just one JL 113 was not horrible, while I waited for the 2nd to return.2 Channel: Sonus Faber Elipsa's, JL sub, McIntosh 501 amps, McIntosh tuner, pre-amp, CD player, Wire World. Pro-ject TT.

Thanks Mike. Last year there seemed to be universal acclaim of the Minuets starting on the first day of the show. ozzy
