If you are a Jazz Fan watch the movie "Whiplash"

What a great movie and acting. Lots of great music in here and the soundtrack CD should be cool too.

    From IMDB
A young and talented drummer attending a prestigious music academy finds himself under the wing of the most respected professor at the school, one who does not hold back on abuse towards his students. The two form an odd relationship as the student tries to achieve greatness, and the professor tries to stop him.

The kid actually took lessons and learned to play so it would not look fake.

We tried to watch Birdman the other night but could not make it half way thru. I cannot believe Keaton is up for Best Actor in this and JK Simmons is only up for Supporting in Whiplash. Birdman was so boring and went absolutely nowhere for an hour so I doubt the second hour was anything different. I understand some people liked it, but I cannot see why.

I just saw Whiplash and loved it! In fact, I want to get the soundtrack, and I'm not even much of a jazz fan!

This was my favorite movie last year. I love the dynamic between the student and teacher. The music was fantastic too, had to go look it up and stream it afterwards.
