    I am drinking the Kool-Aid ... Musical Fidelity NuVista 800 ...

My Musical Fidelity Nu-Vista 800 came today. Holy cr@p. It's a great piece. Full and meaty with 3D to spare. Sweet and ballsy. Wonderful vocals. Dead cold, it's great, but definitely needs some break in. Already I know it's a keeper for me. It's on the Harbeth 40.1 tonight but in a day or two, it's going on the Strads. I think it will be perfect on the Strads.

Mike may be crazy, but he has a great ear. Thanks for the recommendation Mike. I love it.

Congrats Joe! David, Mark and Peter also loved it. David was downright insistent that I just had to hear it. Damn, he was right. I look forward to hearing your thoughts as it breaks in.

Not only that, but the fit, finish and feel is very nice. Controls are smooth and it feels solid as a rock.

This amp has a buzz and it seems to be picking up steam. Compared to some other high-end integrated amps, this thing is a screaming bargain. The other bonus is that for those who haven't quite bought into Class D yet, this is a real Class A/B design with a unique topology given the nuvistor tubes.

    Re: I am drinking the Kool-Aid ... Musical Fidelity NuVista 800 ...

This Nu-Vista is wonderful. Vocals seem more upfront and spotlight but more intimate at the same time. The sound seems a tiny bit dense, almost Dagostino like in presentation. It's very musical with that listen all day vibe to it. The music seems a touch dense but it's nowhere near broken in. The LM 219 right now has more of that see-through amazing disappearing act but there's no maintenance with this and I'm sure with more time, it will open up. If I had to choose one piece to build a nice system around, this is it right now.

Joe - so many amps so little time!

What feedback position do you prefer with your 219IA? Max or min?

    Ha! So true.

I've kept the feedback on min and have not played around yet. Too much negative feedback seems to suck the life out of the music.

I'll experiment next time it's in rotation.

Day one today, it's really a pretty sweet integrated. I'll still end up with a Shindo setup, but this is a great amp to have in the bullpen.

I have to say it's a wonderful integrated. I've had it on my Strads for the past few weeks and don't have any desire to switch it out. Full and meaty tone with great 3D. Awesome bass and clear highs. Mids and vocals are superb. Does the LM219 give me more of that tube glory and walk into sound stage? Yes, but the no fuss MF 800 stays on all night and day without any tube worry (even though it has those little NuVista tubes with the long life on them), singing sweetly.

Mark, I think you'll love it, especially on the Dali 8.

Keith - I never really spent enough time with the 160i to comment. The VAC has a decent built in phonostage which is nice.

Now, Mark (MDP) had the i160 for a spell....perhaps he can try to recollect.

Of course it all depends on speakers, but my limited exposure would lean me toward the NuVista 800.

Of course it all depends on speakers, but my limited exposure would lean me toward the NuVista 800.
On the Salon 2's the VAC was not too good, thin sounding and not near enough power. The Nu Vista is powerful and sweet sounding, it's the best integrated I've ever heard. Of course there are a lot of integrates that I haven't heard.

    Joe et al,

Are you still enjoying your NuVista 800s? I have had mine for several months now, playing through my Wilsin Sashas. I simply love it. I never get tired of listening to it. I had the MF KW500 previously (actually I still do, saving it for a second system), but after reading about the NuVista 800 on Audioshark, I went for it. It is fantastic. The Stereophile cover story/review on it this month is very nice, too.

Michael Fremer loved it! I really enjoyed it when I had the chance to try one.

    Sorry Arsh,

I move too quickly. I loved the MF800 but I like to try different gear. I am so happy for you. I could tell from the first note how special it sounds. It has the tone and body that makes music.

    Thanks for posting about it.

Thanks Mark and Joe. I'm glad you guys liked it. I don't change gear very often, and I am very happy with the Nu Vista 800. I don't feel the need to try anything else, at least for the time being.
