    Gone but never forgotten

Woke up this morning missing my buddy Lewis. Though he passed April 1, 2013 there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about him and miss him still.

He was such a special and funny dude. He was my best friend.

Who are your animal friends....past or present?

    Mike

    Re: Gone but never forgotten

We lost the two yellow labs within a month about 7 years ago. One at age 14 and the other at age 7. The male on the left was my wife's "once in a lifetime dog". A award winning Obedience dog who out of the ring had too much personality to be an obedient dog. About 3 months after losing them we picked up Samantha (Sam or Sami) who has grown to be what I am sure is my "once if a lifetime dog". She makes me happy every day. Only on her birthday does she get people food. A cupcake with little or no icing as we sing Happy Birthday to her. Every time she hears us singing that to someone she starts looking for her treat.

Had back to back Shepherds and never thought I would ever get this attached to my new little guy, a Poodle/Shih-tzu mix named Bernie.

    Thanks for the support guys.

Love the pictures of your own dogs! You can really see their personalities in these pictures. They are such beautiful creatures and without them, life is less enjoyable.

Jim, that picture of Sam cracks me up, thanks for sharing.

Each of you please give your pals a squeeze and a pat on the head for me.

Keep the pics coming, they are wonderful.

    Best,
    Mike

    Re: Gone but never forgotten

    Dogs are family.

They not only teach us about love but teach us about "unconditional love"

They watch over us and at the same time look to us to care for them

They are happy when we are happy, comfort when we are sad

Your dog never says "I don't feel like a hug" and never says no to ice cream...

They say all dogs go to heaven which is fitting because I think that's where they came from to begin with...

And when we lose one, we mourn the loss but know, there is another just waiting to continue giving love; to pick up where our friends left off...

Many blessings to those who know the love of their pets...
