    Chris, when you click on the "add photo" icon, an "Insert Image" screen appears. If you select, "From URL", there will be a blue box that will have a check mark in it. Deselect that box when entering your URL. That should do it.

    Sorry, I haven't gotten back to you, I've been in bed for the last 38 hours and am just up and feeling somewhat human again. I don't know if you upload from your computer if there is an opportunity to deselect the local referencing. Sorry. I'll play around with it and see. Nope, doesn't appear to have that option. I think the reason is that files from your computer are referenced locally, so that if you turn off your computer, there is still a reference.
