    Arrow In Heavy Rotation | Strictly Jazz Music | In The Now | Any Music Mediums: LP/ CD/SACD

    It is important to have a dedicated thread for Jazz Music; so here she is, brand new, totally fresh.

    Spin it now! ...And tell us all about it; and not just a pretty picture, even after several times because we never feel the same twice. So, spell it out! ...You don't have to write a book; a line or two would do, but at the very least few words to describe your musical 'stance' of the moment. ...'Cause without it, it don't mean much at all.

    You go now, me I can't, I'm listening to Classical music right now.

    Jeez, I said nothing regarding 'Surrender' from Jane Monheit!

    I like her, her voice is very pleasant, she's relatively young, and she seems to be a very nice lady hanging with some real cool people.
    That particular recording ('Surrender'), was mixed with some 'expansion', to give the voice and instruments as if they were played in a larger space (with some reverbs). ...It is really a personal taste as to the technique used by the mixing engineer.
    Personally I prefer a more 'natural' approach; but commercially it can sound too 'sterile' for some.

    In music listening, like anything else in life, you have sometimes to go beyond the surface to 'hear', to touch the artist's true essence. ...If you can do that, then you are a more disciplined music listener, I think.

    Antonio Sanchez's latest - New Life - on CD. Great original compositions, you can hear Pat Metheny's influence on a couple of them.

    Doug, all great selections! I'll have to check out the other Mehldau albums I only have a couple. Right now I have David Binney's South CD on which has Chris potter,Adam rogers and brian blade among others, I like his compositions. For that matter brian blade's albums as leader are also superb. So much to listen to so little time...

    Fantastic album from the old master on vibes, also surprisingly nice on marimba here.
    Add his fine personnel Kenny Garrett (as), Geri Allen (p), Christian McBride (b) and Al Foster (d), and you know you're in for a treat.
    Highly recommended.

    From the CD:

    --

    * Melissa's voice flows easily among the jazz rhythms of her band.

    -> I believe she'll fit right in to Paul's taste.
    And she'll sound superb over his loudspeakers; so is the entire band.

    Jeff, I'm playing the Hi-Res files off my computer and it sounds great. This album will be in my vinyl collection so it'll be interesting to compare the two.

    I've been putting a list together for my vinyl library and have a question. Which "Kind of Blue" pressing is better, the Columbia 180 gram from Legacy or the 180g 45RPM 2LP Limited Edition Box Set from Mobile Fidelity?

    Overview of Charlie Parker's career.
    Probably the best box on the market.
    The remastering is very decent.

    André - - - Keep it simple system
    Amp = Chord CPM-2600
    Source = Chord One
    Speakers = Acoustat 1+1s highly modified
    Life without Acoustat is possible BUT senseless.

    * This is a very special ('technical') recording; google it (it's also a click on).

    Just picked this up recently from Acoustic Sounds (Analogue Recordings), 45 RPM vinyl reissue. It's amazing how the original tapes held up so well after > 50 years! I have this on recording on remastered CD & original vinyl. This 45 RPM reissue is so good, it seems like I'm in the recording studio with Dave! Highly Recommended!
