274b tube with Takatsuki 300b?
After trying a few different 300B tubes for my Triode TRX-M300 amps, I have settled on Takatsuki. They only have 10 hours on them but they are already superb: very dynamic, outstanding bass, just right tone and only getting better.
if cost were no issue, and I wanted to next upgrade the 274b rectifier tube.... does anyone have any experience with rolling these? Anyone ever hear the Tak 274b? I currently have the stock Psvane 274b. Any thoughts at all on the impact of changing the 274b tube? Anyone compared different rectifiers with a Tak 300b, by chance? I could also try to track down old Western Electric 274b’s.
basically, I am finally in love with my system (Avantgarde Uno XD and tubes) and just want to make any final tweaks.
thanks
justin

Congratulations Justin. Great news indeed. Takatsuki tubes are superb. I’d certainly get theirs for fun. Obviously WE are awesome too. I’m sure you’ll get some opinions soon. So happy to see you are happy.

Re: 274b tube with Takatsuki 300b?
Justin this is not my personal opinion but based on several friends here who used Tak tubes in Lampi DACs. For them Tak 274b with Tak 300b is holy trinity so I guess it would be worthwhile to explore that path.

I upgraded the power supply on my Gigafoil v4 to a Weiss PSU 102. It’s very nice step up. But with the new model, you’re looking at $2000 before even investing in a SOTA linear power supply.
