Greetings from exotic Oklahoma
Hello,
Thanks for inclusion in your your Audio forum. I’m looking forward to learning and sharing about this hobby of ours.
Having recently retired, I’m having a ball assembling a new system. Primarily intended to be a vinyl based analog system here is how it looks at the moment.
Amp - Odyssey Kismet monoblocks in Khartago boxes heavily modified by Odyssey. Solid state, around 175 wpc but it doubles into 4 and again into 2 ohms with TONS of current, all needed for my speakers.
Preamp - Odyssey Candela tube upgraded with dual outputs and remote.
Phono - Odyssey Suspiro MM/MC solid state phono pre single box version. Upgrade to external power supply at some point. Maybe....
Turntable - Pro-Ject 2Xperience with carbon fiber arm and Blue Point 2 cartridge.
Speakers - Prototypes that never made it to market. Floor standing tower with inverted dome ceramic tweeter and Seas midwoof and (same Seas driver) 2 woofers. Very fast, detailed and coherent but a NASTY load that drops below 2 ohms at 30 hz.
Cables - Audioquest Midnight speaker wire, Groneberg and Transparent interconnects, Groneberg and Transparent power cables.
Digital - OPPO 203 DVD/CD/SACD player
DAC - None, looking at Schiit products.
Tweaks - Herbies vibration products, cryo hospital grade AC outlets, granite platforms, racks have sand filled columns, listener sits on inverted conical points.
Wish list - Dedicated AC lines, room treatments, my ears called from 1990 but I couldn’t hear the phone

Re: Greetings from exotic Oklahoma
Thanks! A very welcoming group. I bet that sets a tone that discourages trollers. Either way, much appreciated.
Ive also noticed the gear owned by all my greeters is quite high end. Looking forward to the discourse.

Re: Greetings from exotic Oklahoma
Welcome to the shark. As far as trollers Mike won't let them stay. Great place to learn and meet new friends. Don't ever worry about anyone else's system. I think we all started with way less than what you have (at least I did). It's all about the music and what you expect any way you look at it.

Re: Greetings from exotic Oklahoma
James
I bought my first Odyssey amp in 1999 as a dealers floor sample when Klaus decided to go direct sales. I had my first phone conversation of many a few weeks later and we have kept in touch for almost twenty years. During that time I have owned five different Odyssey amps including a Kismet which I still own. You have to spend many times what he charges to better them in sound quality. They flourish to my ears with a quality tube preamp in front of them. His back log of orders indicates he must be doing something right.Main - JVC QL-Y7/Denon DL-301 Mk II, Gold Note PH-10, Jays CDT3 Mk3 , Auralic Aries G2.2, Holo May KTE, Supratek Cabernet, Kinki Studio EX-B7 monoblocks, Verity Audio Otello, (2) Rythmik F12SE, Audio Envy IC, SC & PC's, Triode Wire Lab PC's, Inakustik USB and I2S, (2) Puritan Audio Labs PSM-156 with Groundmaster City, Timbernation rack

Greenville, SC- Jays CDT2 Mk 3, Auralic Aries G1, Holo Spring 3 KTE, Supratek Chardonnay, Odyssey Audio Kismet Reference, Rosso Fiorentino Volterra 2, (2) RSL Speedwoofers, iFi Audio Power Station, Wireworld IC's, Inakustik USB and I2s, Triode Wire Lab SC, Triode Wire Lab PC's, Furutech NCF Clear Line, Timbernation rack.

Re: Greetings from exotic Oklahoma
Klaus is quite a character, to be sure. In my early career with Audio I was quite active but must have missed him somehow - didn’t carry or rep his products, never saw him at CES. Skip forward 20 years, when looking to build a system that sounds as close to cost no object as possible when cost definitely was a consideration, Odyssey seemed a good choice.
You really have to want it though. New gear takes months, and his famous upgrade path is almost impossible to accomplish. My Khartago/Kismets are about 80% of fully upgraded; he won’t let me send them in as they would just sit on a shelf.
He reminds me of a respected Luthier making quality custom guitars. Send him a deposit, make some customization choices, receive it in 18 to 24 months. People agree to the wait because the result is worth it.
Sorry for droning on.

Re: Greetings from exotic Oklahoma
Welcome, Klaus and Odyssey products are solid and affordable. I still have a Stratos+ in my second system close to 20 years old.

Hey Phil, have you played with tube rolling on your Candela? How about power cable?
Mine finally ships this week from Klaus along with the Suspiro phono pre.

I upgraded the power supply on my Gigafoil v4 to a Weiss PSU 102. It’s very nice step up. But with the new model, you’re looking at $2000 before even investing in a SOTA linear power supply.
