Here is the reality, this is the demographics of one of our leading Youtube channels with over 18,000,000 views (we have three channels). Notice the percentage of females in the lower age brackets. Plus notice that under age 44 is getting very close to over age 44. We feature only highend audio videos, no Bose sound boxes, no headphones, no home theater, and very few wireless systems. Highend audio is alive and doing very well and has a very bright future. Do not believe the naysayer arm chair "experts".

My Widex hear aids have a program to raise the curve of hearing loss. It works amazingly well. The most noticeable was vocal harmonies that clearly became multiple voices.

Go to a classical music concert. Count the walkers and wheelchairs. The performers are much younger than the audience. I hope that Peter's statistics indicate a trend. The places that I see the most young people attending classical music concerts is in Asia. Certainly not the US or Europe where we attend most of our concerts. I don't go to hifi shows anymore, but when I did, they were almost all middle aged men.

my ex is Asian and my late mother-in-law's preoccupation was counting the number of 'Asian looking' musicians at any given concert (mostly the Sym of the Pacific and LA Phil at Disney hall). her consensus was 70 to 80% Asian with the minority balance going to Caucasian musicians. If this is any indication and if not for the Asian-American performers pulling most if not all the weight, live Classical music performances would be all but dead in the USA. food for thought.
